Hi.

If the toner is loose, and not well fixed to the image , that is usually because of a faulty fuser unit.

The fuser is the lamp that is supposed to heat toner, if the fuser is not releasing enough heath, then the toner dust will not be properly fixed to the paper, and you get this problem.

If instead you do not have trace of toner dust, but you have dropouts, and part of the print is missing, then it may be a fault concerning the high voltage unit that powers the Drum.

In both situations service is due, and you should call the service number listed on the owners manual to get a quote on repair.

Before calling service you can try replacing toner and cleaning the printer inside , even if I do not think this will make any difference.

Regards.

Hi i just bought a second hand konica minolta c350 and when i print something it is notting enough clarity. please anybody can help me .

I would first starts by removing the Imaging units that are locked with blue levers below toner cartridges one by one for each colour and use the cleaning tool that is provided on the door (metal rod with handle and a pad on the opposite). When you pull the Imaging unit all the way out, you will see inside a long strip of LED and next to it on left hand side about a 1-2 cm another strip of MICRO LED Array. This is essentially yor print head and it has to be spotless clean. Use the rod and padded end to clean each of the arrays. This will give better sharpness and clarity to your prints. Then put Imaging Unit back in machine and pull the blue stick from the Imaging Unit out-in-out-in. The next step is to do Stabilisation and Gradation adjustments. This can be done in Service Mode. This should improve your printing. If it doesn't then you have either worn Imaging units _or_ Transfer Belt _or_ incorrect settings on Fuser or Fuser being worn.

Why does my 6280 separate one image into two and print it?

Poor fusing of the toner onto the paper is caused by

1. Poor quality compatible/remanufactured toner cartridges that have the wrong toner in them. - Use OEM, or better quality independent toners (and complain to your current supplier about the ones you have)

2. Damp media - high moisture content in the paper prevents correct fusing. You'll probably see the paper 'steaming' as it comes out if this is the case. - Keep your paper dry, only load as much as you need.

3. Thicker than normal media. The thicker the paper, the longer/more heat it takes to fuse the toner. - Make sure you have the correct paper type set in the printer driver at print time.

4. Faulty fuser. Normally the printer will report if the fuser is not reaching the correct temperature, but there are instances when this does not happen. Also it is possible for the fuser heat lamp to blacken partially, resulting in an area of the fuser that does not reach the correct temperature. This problem will affect an area of the page which consistently (same place, and all the way down the page) shows poor fusing. - Replace the fuser.

Throughout print job HP laserjet 9050 print will be squigly/flakey and not fuse to paper properly

when you replaced the maintenance kit - did you replace the Fuser assembly as well - as this faultr is down to the pressure off the fuser roller to fix the image also there are two blue tabs that set the fuser unit to letter mode(less Pressure) these can be accessed without removing the fuser and are accessible from the left door. ensure the levers are set to paper and not letter. if the fuser is still not fixing the image correctly then a new fuser unit assembly is required as fuser units are non servicable.

Hp color laserjet 2600n is printing lighter on one side of paper. Where light is also printing shadows down paper of letters at top.

First of all you may have 1 or 2 things going on here. First of all the HP2600 series is prone to having the laser optics get toner dust on them which causes light prints usually on on side or the other. If your light print on one side is on black and all the colors then it may be the fusing unit. Another indicator of the fuser being the cause is the double imaging.....meaning something that is printed at the top of the page gets re-printed farther down the page. Does any of the print, especially on the double image/light side rub off? If so then it is definately the fuser. In case you don't know the fusing unit is the part that heats up and "fuses" the toner onto the paper. It is located right where the paper exits the machine. You can try a test for a fuser problem by printing something then shutting the printer off before the paper starts to exit the printer. Open up the printer and look at the sheet being printed. Is it light on the one side before it goes thru the fuser? If so then you need to clean the laser optics. If it is not lighter then this will prove the fuser is the cause. You can find the fuser units all over the net and they are easy to swap out. As far as the laser optics go you can try the basic cleaning yourself by removing the 4 toner cartridges. Behind these units you will see kind of a large black box with 4 evenly spaced "slots" running from side to side. Inside these slots is a plastic lens that the laser beam goes thru on it's way to the toner cartridges. Just take a cue tip/cotton swab and clean these 4 slots. Once clean just re-install the toners and test to see if the print quality issue is improved. Sometimes the whole laser box assembly must be removed, dis-assembled and cleaned. I recommend you hire someone to do this as it can get a bit much if you do not have experience with these machines.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

HP laserjet 5000gn when i print, output smears ink on 2 sides. not a toner issue cause changed toners already. someone says printer is telling me something and might be a warning of

If by smearing you mean the print is also rubbing off? Then you definately have a fuser unit issue. The fusing unit is the assembly that heats up and "fuses" the toner onto the page. When these start to go bad, usually on one edge or the other the print will smear/double image/wipe off of the effected area. One test you can do to verify a fuser problem is to print a page and then when the page is about half way thru the prcess, shut the printer off. Open the top and remove the toner cartridge, pull out the page and see if the lower part is not smeared. Basically what your checking is to see if the print is ok BEFORE it goes thru the fuser. Based on your description I would suspect your fuser is going bad.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

The black print jobs have a shadow about 3 inches down the page

I had replaced the fuser - no improvement. I removed the fuser, imaging unit & transfer roller. CAREFULLY using a vacuum cleaner I cleaned all units and the internals of the printer, rotating the roller on the imaging unit to clean all parts. (Warning Place Imaging unit on paper as toner escapes) After a few test prints the page cleared and duplicate ghosting cleared.

It sounds like a few things could have happened.. Someone might have put a tyvek type paper in the machine that has partially fused to the FUSER. Or your Fuser is reaching the end of it useful life.

The Fuser is what puts the image/text on the paper.

Replacement of the fuser unit will correct this. The average price for a unit is 175-225 dollars + install.

Double printing

HP do not use fuser oil. The upper roller is made of a non stick coating. When this begins to waer the toner sticks to the roller along with excess paper dust off the paper. This is what will cause a repeat image on a page. You need to swop the fuser unit to cure this fault

I can tell you that it is NOT the Fuser unit. I would change the drum unit first. This would be the most likely cause.

I'm sure you already know the answer to this, the fuser isn't getting hot enough - either the bulb or a thermistor is faulty.
