This link is just to the operating manual. It does NOT explain how to disassemble the motor housing.

This link takes you to the manual that comes with the humidifier. It does NOT tell you how to disassemble the motor housing.

I need a fan motor for the 758 144140 Sears Kenmore Humidifier

I have a Kenmore Quiet Comfort Electronic humidifier, model 758.144140. Is missing filter holders, and float switch, so is inoperable. Motor works fine. Contact me if you want the motor - mnwilli@hotmail.com. No charge if you pay for shipping. I will include 2 filters, can include any other parts you want. Why the offer? Space in my house worth more than an inoperative appliance.

I don't think they want you to open the motor housing as it could cause them problems. This unit was not intended to do the job your asking it to do and you should consider a humidifier for your home or apartment. they can be added by a HVAC man and are not to expensive. I think this would help you with both your problems.

Or put some CLR threw the motor and it will clean it up.

Water constantly runs when furnace is on or off. I wired it exactly how the diagram said but the water never shuts off.

Hello, In order for the humidifier to turn on and off you need either a sail switch or current sensing relay. A sail switch senses air flow and will turn on the humidifier when the blower motor kicks on and a current sensing relay senses current through the blower motors common wire. If you have either of theses hooked up already and the solenoid valve remains open then the solenoid valve must be replaced.

MOTOR IS NOISE

Sounds like your motor bearings are going bad. If at all possible lubricate the motor bearings using a few drops of a NON detergent oil. If the motor has sealed bearings with no oil ports then you should replace the blower motor.
Good luck

Hunter Humidifier #33222

From The Hunter Manual
1. Turn the humidifier ‘OFF’ and unplug the unit.
2. Lift the main housing and remove the water dispersion tray and the PermaWick™ Filters. The motor is attached to the main housing. Do not place the motor near water. Do not use a wet towel on the motor or motor housing as electrical shock may occur.
3. The PermaWick™ Filter should be cleaned in a vinegar and water solution to remove any mineral buildup. Place in a solution of one (1) gallon of water and eight (8) ounces of undiluted white vinegar. Allow the filter to soak for 20 minutes.
4. After soaking, rinse it several times with clean water. Place the PermaWick™ Filter in a location where it can drip dry while you clean the other parts of your humidifier.
5. Remove the water tank from the base and empty any water that is left in the tank. Soak the base in a mixture of one (1) gallon of water and eight (8) ounces of vinegar for 20 minutes.
6. After soaking, wipe the base with a soft cloth or sponge to remove any mineral build up. Rinse with clean water several times. If you are planning on storing the humidifier, be sure the base is completely dry.
7. Fill the water tank with one (1) gallon of water and eight ounces of undiluted white vinegar. Replace the tank cap and shake the tank vigorously until all interior surfaces of the tank have been exposed to the water/vinegar mixture.
8. Empty the tank of the water/vinegar mixture. Rinse it several times with clean water and then replace the tank cap. If you are planning on storing the humidifier, dry it inside and out, leaving the cap off to allow the tank to completely dry. Continue to clean the other parts of your humidifier.
9. Remove the water diffuser cap by squeezing the two tabs as shown in Figure 3. Rinse the cap in clean water to remove any debris. If the cap contains hard water residue, soak it in a mixture of one (1) quart of water and two (2) ounces of vinegar for 20 minutes.
Rinse well and reinstall the water diffuser cap. Do not expose motor or other electrical components to water.
10. Wipe the surfaces of the main housing with a soft cloth.
11. Once all the parts are clean, reassemble the humidifier, and follow the USING YOUR HUMIDIFIER to continue use. If you are storing the humidifier, make sure the parts are completely dry, reassemble, and store in a dry location

Small rubbery piece has fallen off

I contacted Lasko and immediately got a response:

You will need to remove the top grill of the humidifier to install the gasket. The gasket installation instructions are as follows.
  1. Unplug the humidifier.
  1. Remove the top half of the humidifier and turn it upside down onto a stable surface.
***Be sure that the pump housing is dry. If it is not, there is a possibility that water will flow into the motor housing and cause damage to the motor.

  1. Locate and remove the six (6) screws that are around the inner edge of the unit.
3 are located near the front and 3 are located near the back.

  1. You will now be able to remove the top grill to install the gasket into the U shape part of the housing.
  1. Once the gasket is in place, you will then reassemble the top grill to the housing and reinstall the screws.
