Cannot locate wireless networks with Broadcom with my HP mini 2140

To connect your computer to a wireless router, you click the Refresh network list, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connect to your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Key before allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This Network Key is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is configured in the Wireless settings in the Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way to setup the Encryption key.
When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrase or WPA or WPA2 key that was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router. http://www.fixya.com/support/r5270415-network_password_network_address For information on securing your wireless network, configuring the wireless router and configuring the wireless card in the laptop/computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

Trying to set up my new HP wireless printer. it's asking me for the WEP Key. Where do i find it at?

Your WEP key can be found in your Wireless router. If you have wireless security password then that is your WEP key.

Finding WEP Key

Your WEP key is the security key that is used with your Wireless Router. On your wireless router there should be a label which will say something like Wireless Password/Wireless Key/Security Key etc. Do not confuse this with an SSID which is simply your router's ID among all the other wireless signals in the air. If your router has not got a label with the Wireless Key on it, then you should of been supplied a card with the key on it. If you have not then you will need to contact your internet provider and ask them is they can help with issuing a new key.

Hope this helps

What is the wep key? And how do I get on the internet?

A WEP key is your security key or Wireless Encryption Protocol key that you need to enter to allow you to access the internet thourhg your router. Usually when you have a new router the WEP key comes either on a sticker on the back of the router or on a card supplied with the router for instance BT HomeHub. To connect to the internet you will need to go through the connection settings wizard on the DS and when asked to input the WEP key use the security key supplied by your router.

Hope this helps

Have a new to me computer. It is asking for a WEP

WEP stands for Wired Equivalent Privacy. Its a secure key that allows you to gain access to a wireless network. If you have a wireless router in your house then you will have to access the router to find out the WEP key. You can do this by attaching the computer to the router by a LAN cable. Looks real similar to a phone cable but the connectors are larger. Once you do that you can acces the router by opening your browser and inserting the ip address of 192.168.1.1 into the adress bar...you can also try 10.0.0.1 if the first will not work. the first is the more popular however. That should give you access to the web interface of the router where you can see the WEP key or even change it. If you are trying to access the internet through your neighbors wireless,,thats illegal and you can get into serious trouble. Just ask them for the WEP key,,they maybe nice and give it to you...but they are the ones paying the bill remember. Hope this helps.

I have set up with window xp profesional with acer aspire 4310. The problem is my wireless card(Broadcom 802.11g network adapter).I have driver disk and i have set it up already but it still cannot work....

Wireless. I need to know a few things.
What is your wireless router set for? WEP or WPA?
Have you given your network an SSID?
Do you get a wireless Icon on your task bar near the clock?
Is the connection light blinking on the Wireless card (PCMCIA, right?)
Can you open the wireless driver?
If you right-click on the network ICON near the clock, can you open wireless networks? Have you tried?

Your wireless has to be set EXACTLY the same as the router. SSID with capitals in the same places. Same WPA key if you are using WPA. Use WPA2 if your router is set for this.
Same WEP key if you are using WEP.
Let me know

My laptop has a built-in Wireless Internet card, a Broadcom I think, and it will not connect to my router. My router is a Westell VersaLink 327W with wireless capabilites. I don;t know what knid of Acer is...

I think youre in luck. The driver for your Broadcom wireless card is not contained in Windows 7. You can download the updated driver by going here.

You should be able to simply download the .zip, extract it to your desktop and let it install itself but if you need additional help installing the driver manually, please let me know.

Hope this helps!

I have a wireless Canon printer but I can't set it up as it asks for a WEP code...what is that?

WEP code is a network security key which is configured in wireless router. Ask the person for the key who has configured the wireless router. Or if you have set any key in your laptop/computer for wireless LAN card, then you need to enter this key.

Pls i need 2wire299 wep key

The WEP encryption key is configured in the wireless router.
Go to the router's wireless configuration to view this key and you can then configure the wireless card with this encryption key.
If you cannot see the key you can setup a new encryption key and the configure the wireless card with this encryption key.

Can't find wep key

Hello,
With each new router comes a new WEP KEY by default this could be found normally on the back of the router/access point near the bar code it should have something like this:
SSID: XXXXXXXX WEP KEY: XXXXXXX
If you don't find this sticker or don't have it just reset the router or connect by cable go to the web interface and copy or change the WEP Key there defined.

Hope that helps.
If you need and advice about a new wi-fi router....linksys all the way...;)
