My thinkpad 2628 wont recognize my hard drive and tells me i dont have a operating system on it

This means it has crashed. You will need to use your recovery disk that came with the laptop to re-install Windows and the system drivers.

Hi, i have Lenovo thinkpad R60. but i can't install the network controller driver. so help me and tell me where i find the related driver?

ThinkPad The same model ThinkPadcan have different types of network, video and audio drivers and unless youknow exactly which one is installed in your ThinkPad, you need to download allthe drivers and install each driver until you find the right driver. When you download thedrivers, write down the device driver and it's file name so you have a recordof which driver you are installing and which directory the unzipped files arelocated on your hard drive. Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEBsite - support/download page and download the latest Windows device drivers foryour model computer, Use this link: - http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=%2Fproductselection%2Flandingpages%2FbrowseByProductLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo&brandind=10&validate=true

Reset bios password for lenovo r60

To reset the BIOS read the information from this link: http://www.fixya.com/support/r7229632-reset_or_remove_bios_password

In case of your laptop the easiest method would be using software from Hiren's Boot CD as it's pretty hard to open it up and reach for the CMOS battery or the jumper.

Ibm thinkpad r60 hard drive not recognized in windows setup, but is recognized in bios. Why and hw the problem can be solved

It usually means that the Hard Drive and/or the adapter(plug) on the motherboard it plugs into needs a specific driver (storage) that is not in the list of drivers that the WIndows disc you are installing from has included on it. You may have to find this driver on the IBM Support site for your exact laptop and load it onto a USB flash drive from another computer, then load it from that USB flash drive during setup of Windows.

This can be tricky. If you can get a disc from IBM which loads this driver automatically you'd probably find it less of a hassle.

Forget BIOS Password (Laptop - IBM Thinkpad Lenovo R60)

For that you need to reset factory defaults settings for bios.
For reset bios u have to open back side of your laptop then u find motherbord circuit there.
pull cmos cell on motherbord for 15 minute then it reset to defaults.
Also u can reset with jumper settigns read carefully on mother bord there is 1 jumper near cmos cell u read there " bios reset or clear"
It is on 1-2 position right now set it in 2-3 position then power up then all bios settings are reset.
then again set it in 1-2 its original position.

I know that you cannot get the thinkpad on the internet, but you can download the drivers from this link from the computer you are using for FixYa. Download them to a flash drive, and load them from there to the thinkpad.

My laptop does not recognize the hard disk after formatting;

Actually, have you tried running the Windows install yet? When you're in Windows Setup, it should recognize the hard drive as a device, even if it's not formatted or formatted properly.

Try going into the BIOS for the laptop (it might be called Setup Menu or some such - you should see a prompt for hitting a key like Del to get there) and look and see if the BIOS recognizes the hard drive. If the BIOS doesn't see the hard drive, then the problem might be with the laptop and not the hard drive.

There's a possiblility that you can still recover your files. Try to plug your hard drive to a different PC and check if it detects it. Otherwise, there's no hope but to buy a new hard drive.

Laptop is locked out

This works great
Forgotten Power-on password
If the Power-on password is forgotten
and the Supervisor password is known,
simply go into the ThinkPad BIOS setup
utility and reset the Power-on password,
otherwise try the following:
Turn off the computer.
Remove the battery pack.
Remove the backup battery. This is
located under the battery.
Turn on the computer and wait until the
POST ends. After the POST ends, the
password prompt does not appear. The POP
has been removed.
Reinstall the backup battery and the
battery pack.
Note: Some ThinkPad systems have the
ability to reset the Power-on passwords
in the ThinkPad BIOS setup utility if a
Supervisor password has been set.
