Question about Acer Computers & Internet
I'm just looking for a little bit of advice really. I have a Acer 5610... Which is now around 3 years old. The laptop has never really had a problem other than a DVD/RW Drive replacement, and now a new screen.
Around about 6 months back, the screen that was in the laptop developed a series of lines which were various colours going down the screen. This didn't effect the usage of the laptop because the screen was still displaying images. And then, around about 4 months ago, i got a large, say 10cm thick line, going down the screen on the right hand side, and a band at the bottom of the screen, with various coloured lines (which followed the theme of the XP Appearance - Under neath the start button there were a series of green lines, and then underneath the rest, the 2 shades of blue.
Anyway, i purchased an Acer 5610 screen off the internet, and installed it yesterday. Now, the screen doesn't have the different coloured lines going down the screen showing that the circuit board on the back of the screen has lost connection in various places, but it is doing the exact same as the old broken screen in the respect that there is a 10cm black line on the right hand side of the display, and the various coloured lines beneath the start bar.
XP has been clever enough to make the resolution of the screen fit the area in which it works. So it is still usable, but sometimes hard to use with the lack of screen space.
I have tested the new screen in another laptop, a Dell one infact, and it works Perfectly!!
I'm considering purchasing a new Band/Ribbon connection cable for the acer laptop, but don't know if it will be worth it considering the laptop is of such an age, and could be a fault on the motherboard, I don't have access to a spare acer ribbon cable for the display though to test the screen its self.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi I have a problem with my bottom screen as well. I was replacing the case as the hinge was broken. When i was putting it back together i noticed a slight tear in the ribbon cable which is attached to the board and the bottom screen.
When I turned it on I found I had poor colour and contrast in the bottom screen however the top screen was fine.
Where this ribbon cable is attached to the board there is two small cables attached to the board beneath it, maybe one of these has come away and needs repositioning or your bottom screen needs replacing.Try this site for diy tipshttp://site.powergamingparts.com

Have you tried to connect your laptop to external monitor?
If you get normal picture on external monitor, then you need to replace LCD screen, but if you get same picture on external screen, then unfortunately you will need new motherboard, because graphics card is integrated to motherboard.
