Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I was working with sd tech steve for a few days on this..basically my mitsubishi ws-65869 went out & we were in the process of disconnecting the front keyboard so I can operate the tv by remote...that did not fix the problem so here is the last response from steve: If disconnecting the keyboard does not restore the set to operation---the receiver is bad---there are 4 or more caps and some pico fuses that can fail in that unit---Mitsubishi no longer sells or repairs these--if it is bad and not the caps there is a company you can send the unit to and have it repaired--if you need to know their name let me know...if you can forward to steve or if anyone else has the info please forward...thanks

    to start with:

there should be 5V on the red line on the image shown

the voltages on pin 1 of the Remocon Preamp Unit should be having a fluctuating downward voltage from 5V everytime you press any button on your remote control.

if it does it means your IR receiver unit and your remote transmitter is partially working.

you can also test your remote control if it is really working by using AM radio and pressing any button just to test your remote is working.

we need to do this cause you mentioned you disabled the front controls.

you can also use an auxiliary power supply just to test if the 5V line is OK.

two ideas:

Make sure you tested the pico fuses inside the unit with the caps==two or three of them.

Also from front of set behind speaker grill unplug both plugs that go up to front keyboard--set will still work with remote===if set functions now then the reset micro switch is bad/damaged.

Picture is bowing at top and bottom also has shadows and has converance problems and lines on tv be red and white

This model uses a single convergence IC chip----

The chip needs to be replaced and there are about a dozen light blue resistors in front of it that need to be checked also.

Considering you can buy the part on Ebay for about 12 dollars plus shipping---if you or someone you know can do it for you, you can save the set and a lot of money.

I have done hundreds of these repairs and I have had so many people here asking that I composed step by step-----start to finish instructions for this repair in this set----

The instructions tell you everything you will need to do the repair and are detailed.

I just today received a comment from someone who got the instructions tell me the repair went perfect and he now has a working TV again for a fraction of what a shop wanted to repair it.

If you want the instructions let me know, I am not allowed here to post MY email address, but you.....

If you have any questions or need advice let me know.

I am here to help people, I do this here for free.

Mitsubishi WS-65869 65" blue color problem

Yes, you need to replace the convergence output amplifier IC's. They can be ordered on line. After removing the back you must remove the circuit board which houses the amps. Then desolder them and install the replacemnts. If you are extremely lucky there won't be any re-alignment issues with the new amps. Then you should be good to go.
