HI. I HAVE A DIRECT DRIVE COMPRESSOR WITH A 2 1/2 HP MOTOR & THE PRESSURE SWITCH ALLOWS IT TO BUILD UP AIR PRESSURE BUT WHEN IT SWITCHES OFF, IT DUMPS ALL THE AIR. I HAVE A CONDOR MDR2/1100 PRESSURE SWITCH FROM ANOTHER COMPRESSOR THAT I COULD FIT & WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE WIRING DIAGRAM IS PLEASE. IT MAY SOLVE THE PROBLEM.

STOP! Your pressure switch is doing what it is supposed to, but the tank check valve is leaking. This valve is usually at the tank where the line from the compressor head enters the tank. The small tube line from the pressure switch probably also goes to this valve. You'll need to clean or replace it.

I HAVE 7.5 HP VERT 80 GAL TANK COMPRSSOR IT KEEPS BURNING CONTACTS ON PRESSURE SWITCH. CONTACTS STICK TOGETHER AND COMPRESSOR WON'T SHUT OFF AFTER REACHING PRESSURE. WHAT'S CAUSING THIS?

There is a capacitor across the contacts
To absorb the inductive collapse if the motor.

But this problem usually only happens to DC motors not AC.

If the starting Cap has 2 leads I'm stumped if it has 3 leads replace it.

Motor stall

if the motor has 3 phase ( test the terminal motor for voltage) if there are the motor need repair, brushs, ball bearing, or winding faulty)
2) if the motor is 1 phase, the capacitor or centrifugal switch is faulty or windin run or starting can be faulty. However in ANY case try to TIGHT ANY wires loose or connector, or corroded contacts in the relais or contactor, clean with alcohol isopropyl or c.solvents.
God bless you

Hope i can help you.

the start capacitor on the motor body is weak, the motor needs this component to over come the air pressure when cycling to re-build the low air pressure, change both the start and run capacitors when doing the start because the other run capacitor is just as old and it will soon fail

This switch is only rated for up to 2 HP at 240 volts and 1-1/2 HP at 120 volts. Using 3 phase power, you can go only up to 3 HP. That would not cause the problem that you discuss, but it is an unsafe condition.
Some Square D switches have a small relief valve so that when the compressor reaches pressure, the motor stops and the relief opens and lets pressure out of the compressor cylinder. Does your switch have that and might that be what is "leaking"? I believe that if the compressor is tight that the leak would stop rather quickly.

My compressor suddenly quit cycling what went wrong?

hi there!
there are several factor on cycling failure, most common on it is the pressure switch device, checking on this, plug out or switch off main circuit breaker for compressor, disconnect pressure switch if this is a single phase connection, there are two supply wire coming in and two wire coming out on pressure switch.direct connection of compressor motor on power supply to test if it is cycling manually, after direct connection of motor compressor to power supply w/out pressure switch, switch on for 5 to 10 minutes o build a low [pressure then swict off again, then switch on again even there is a low pressure observe if there is cycling motor running if this done replace pressure switch.if still have same problem motor tripping another case not to cycle bring this to electric motor service center.have a nice day dont forget to fix my rate.

do not connect any powercord directly to your motor wires. if second hand compressor i would get the motor tested first. lead possibly cut off for reason.

Breaker relay tripping out

If the unloading valve trips , which i think is the safety valve that tells me the compressor is pumping up past its maximum allowed pressure. that black switch should be the overload switch. check the amps of the wires going to the motor while its running and then look at the name plate of the motor to see the maximum amount of amps that the motor is allowed to draw.

Air compressor w/5hp motor

Assuming that the motor is factory matched to pump, it should be powerful enough to turn the pump. Most problems with motors are related to pressure switch and/or capacitor. The pressure switch could have burned contacts causing low amps to reach the motor. The capacitor should test at least 90% of rated value printed on capacitor. Some volt meters have capacitor check setting. Also this motor at 5 hp must draw lots of amps. The outlet should be rated at least 20 amps and plug the compressor directly into oulet without an extension cord. \
Secondary problem is the in-tank check valve. The check valve should hold in tank pressure without leaking back to the head of the pump. If check valve leaks, replace it with any brand of same thread size. enjoy
