Question about Creative Labs Zen Micro MP3 Player

1 Answer

Turning off Just got a Zen Micro and after docking and adding my music I tried to turn the power on. The battery was charged and the player powered up, only to play 2-3 seconds of music and shut down again. I tried to turn the player back on several times, but this continued to happen. If I popped the battery out and back in again, I could get a minute or two of play time before it shut off. After getting it back on I changed he playmode from shuffle to shuffle repeat and it stayed on perfectly until I chose to turn it off. When re-starting it, it auto- shut off again. After popping the battery out & back in again it seems to be working OK. Is the battery bad or has anyone else had this happen before?

I have a Creative Zen V plus. It has worked fine

Try to switch it ON when it is connected with USB or charger. If it turns ON then batteries require replacement.

When I plug it in to charge the player, it says "docked" as usual, but then it turns itself off and acts like I've disconnected it. It says "Low Battery" and shuts down.

The zen need a full charge... if you have an ac adapter plug it in for at least eight hours. if you don't have an ac adapter plug it in via USB to a DESKTOP computer (not laptop) and try to use a differnt usb cord (creative doesn't always include a powerful enough cord to get the zen out of that low power state)

refer to creative.com/support and look up info on your model to see if anyone else has your issue

I KNOW I can charge my MP3 player and listen to it at the same time, but I don't know how.

Disabled it under device manager! So that it still draws power from the USB port without attempting to pair with the computer.

I had the same problem. Couldn't turn on the Zen and computer wouldn't recognize it.

I took a safety pin and reset it. It works now! Thank goodness!

May be u would have faced loose connections, for better results turn off the zen wait for 20sec and then connect it to the power and make sure u dont keep moving the zen or the cable attatched to it... Due to wear and tear loose contact becomes prone..!! Hoping for a good rating from u...!!!

Thankyou

Docked prooblem

Plug it in and start charging it. Once it has a decent charge if you ever have that problem again... (see below)

Using the instructions below try Reset, first, if that doesn't fix it try the Cleanup method, if that doesn't work... (if you have a backup of all your music on your computer), try the format option

This is from Creative's website:
Zen V Plus and Zen V
  1. Detach your player from the PC if it is connected, and turn off the player.
If the player stops responding, you can reset the player. To reset the player, gently
insert a thin object into the Reset hole located below the power switch.
2. Press and hold the Play button while powering on your player.
3. When the player displays the Creative logo, release the Play button.

It will display the following options:
Clean Up
Scans the player and removes invalid links from its music library.
Does not affect music files themselves.
Format (All) Caution! Erases all content!
Save a copy of your player's content before formatting.
Reload OS/ Firmware Caution! Erases your player's firmware.
DO NOT select the Reload Firmware option unless you have access to a PC and you have downloaded the necessary firmware to install.
Reboot Reboots the device.

Sounds like it may be the index in your Music Library. Try going into Recovery Mode; remove battery, hold power switch to ON, replace battery, release power switch when the Recovery Mode screen appears on the screen. Run Option 1 CleanUP, after it completes run Option 4 Restart. You will get a Rebuilding Library screen when it reboots, that's normal, then it should go back to your startup screen. Good luck and let us know what happened
