How do I know the pump is working? It hums, but nothing happens. Water is sitting in the drain tube and going nowhere.

  • natellj Nov 14, 2009

I ran the test again and quite a bit of water came out during the test. When it was done, it still gave the F02 code and the towel I have in the machine is very wet. Could it be a water level sensor problem like I've seen some people have had? Or is the water coming out only due to the sheer force of the new water being drained?

Getting F02 code on whirlpool duet washer. Cleaned hoses and filter and replaced pump. Ran test and still getting F02 code. Water comes out of drainage hose during the test cycle, but towel in washer is still very wet and getting F02 code at the end. I see air in the drainage line. Is this normal, or is the pump still not working properly?

Sounds like you are on the right path to repair. here is a few more recomemndations hop this helps. These are the possibilities for that error code: Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display. * Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked. * Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running. * Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects. * If the above does not correct the problem, replace the pump.
F02 is long drain.
Just because it came up doesn't mean there's a problem, it simply means there was a failure during the cycle, if it returns on a regular basis, you have a problem.
F02 error could be caused by the over use of soap, you need to make sure your using 2 tablespoons of HE soap, 1/4 cap at the most. Over sudsing, could cause the water pump to run longer, the pump is designed for 15 min duty cycle which means, 15 minutes on to 45 minutes off. The computer may sense too much soap, and continue to pump. HE soap will cure that, along with SUD error, possible F09 (overflow condition), you may also notice the timing is wrong, HE soap works well in these machines and F/l washer go hand in hand if the F02 returns the remove the 3 torx screws from the bottom kick panel, and remove the kick panel, right there in the middle you will see a big round handle, turn it and then slide it out, have some towels ready, there will be some water in there, and check to see if you have any thing in there that will slow water flow, tooth picks and other "floating" items may jam the impeller.

    Hope i helped you.

If the PUMP is working, i does not sound like Water Sensor or Fuse. It sounds like defective CCU.( Central Control Unit ). You will have to replace the CCU to fix the problem. There is no fuse in line with the drain pump or anything for that matter. The power comes directly from the CCU which is located underneath the top panel near the back in the middle. It looks like a plastic box with lots of wires going into it.

Before that - Remove the 3 torx screws from the bottom kick panel,
and remove the kick panel, right there in the middle you will see a big round
handle, turn it and then slide it out, have some towels ready, there will be
some water in there, and check to see if you have any thing in there that will
slow water flow, tooth picks and other "floating" items may jam the
    impeller.

My whirlpool duet washer had a F02 code now it won't pump water

Repairing the F02 error code can usually be done without ordering parts. Tools needed to repair your whirlpool Duet F02 error code are towels and a quarter inch socket.
Tip the washer back at a 45 degree angle. On the bottom panel there are three or four screws, with the screws removed the panel will slide down and off. With the lower access panel now removed you will have access to the washers drain pump clean out.
With the water already bailed from the washer you can twist the filter head counter-clockwise to remove. Twisting the filter head counter-clockwise will loosen filter so it can be pulled out.
With the filter out clean and install it back into washer.
Run a quick cycle to ensure the washer is back up and running and the F02 error has disappeared. If the error comes back, it may require you to clean the drain pump filter again.
If you require a new drain pump motor, you can purchase the part from the link below.

What does F-02 flashing on the display of my Whirlpool Duet washer mean?

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

F02 is a drain error in your Kenmore washer, if the unit is unable to drain then after 4 minutes it will display suds and then F02. The first thing that should be done is cleaning the drain hose and the drain pump filter, you can take out three torx screws from the bottom front panel and then clean the area completely, lift up the cap to clean the filter. If the error returns then check the drain pump if it is not working then replacing the pump is recommended repair. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

F02

The f02 error code is caused when the unit control thinks there is still water in the tub after it has tried to drain. If the washer is full of soap suds it will also display an f02 error code. You will need to use only name brand HE detergent. If your washer is not draining the water out you will need to clean the pump filter. I have provided the instructions below. Run the washer in a drain and spin to ensure the pump is running. If the washer has no water and no suds the problem will be either the pressure switch or a plugged pressure hose. To check the pressure hose you will need to remove the top and remove the hose from the pressure switch.

My duet keeps giving me the "F02" code and I have removed and cleaned the drain hose and all is good on that end. Is there something else I can do?

"F02" is a Long Drain error. If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes this error code will be displayed. In addition, a "SUDS" error may also be generated as a secondary error. This is an indication of a drain pump problem and/or clog in the drain line. You will need to check the following:

1. Check the drain hose to make sure it is not kinked or clogged.
2. Check the electrical connections to the pump and ensure the pump is running.
3. Remove the drain pump filter and check for foreign objects and/or debris.

To check the drain pump, click on the following link for step-by-step instructions.

If the above procedures do not correct the problem, it is recommended by the manufacturer to replace the drain pump

You may need to disassemble all the hoses and inspect everything problem maybe a partial block? It can still drain but if it is slow and takes too long you will get the F02 error.
