Olympus Digital SLR E-520 - LCD monitor won't turn on.

E-520 LCD monitor won't turn on, except when camera is plugged into computer. Camera still takes photos using viewfinder but can't access a lot of the menus without the info normally displayed on the screen. The screen itself is not the problem as it will display a menu when plugged into a computer.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Software for Olympus FE-190

You don't need any software.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

I have an olympus sp 800uz camera and my computer won't recognise it to download photos

1. You might be able to download foto's from the camera, when you do it manually from within the installed Olympus program. Windows XP has problems with auto downloading foto's from ib.
2. Otherwise, check if the computer is recognizing the camera (see LCD) and with the Explorer if a removeable memory device is available from the camera.
3. Try putting the camera into another USB port, or try the camera on another computer.
4. As an alternative, you might want to install a better and also free Olympus program:

Olympus om-2 cvamera lenses

You are able to use your old OM lenses with a new Olympus digital SLR camera. You will need to purchase an MF-OM 1 lens adapter to be able to connect these lenses to the digital SLR camera. Also when using these lenses you will only be able to use the camera in manual focus mode as these lenses are not capable to shhot with an auto focus mode.

LCD Monitor

You are plainly unaware of the potentials and hang ups of owning a SLR camera
A SLR camera such as this does not offer a monitor preview like most other cameras.
This is because the viewfinder[via a mirror] uses the lens to view the scene.

There are some Olympus models that allow it via an electronic trick and many other makes that appear to be SLR are in fact not and utilize a small LCD screen in the eyepiece.
But a true SLR cannot do this.

Google for a review of this item or look it up at www.stevesdigicams.com

LCD Monitor on ,and the Electronic Viewfinder turned off

If you turn on the back LCD, the electronic viewfinder will remain on while in a shooting mode. There is no setting on the camera to use only the back LCD monitor while shooting. If you playback images in the Play mode, only the LCD monitor will turn on. However, if you press the Monitor button while in the Play mode, than the back LCD monitor will turn off. The image will display only in the viewfinder LCD.

Pixel Mapping feature

Press the up and down arrows on the jog dial and push the slide cover to the open position at the same time. Then press the up arrow on the jog dial to highlight “START” in the menu that appears on the LCD monitor. Press the “OK” button. The word “BUSY” and a progress bar will briefly appear on the LCD monitor. Once it disappears, the pixel mapping procedure has been completed.
