Question about Televison & Video

Philips Plasma, 42pf7320a/37 - no picture, just a flashing red LED on the bottom left panel. Flashes 7 times and then stops for a couple of counts then flashes 7 times again. When I unplug and plug back in, I get a green LED but no picture- the LED goes back to Red after about 10 seconds. Is there an easy card fix that I can do myself, assuming I can find the parts? Thanks Scott

How do I remove the back on this TV? It looks like the whole aluminum panel over the back can be removed by loosening a large number of black hexhead screws. Is there a more specific panel I should open?

    Best Regards

Take back off look on power supply board for blowed capacitors if you see any that is puffed up on top they are Bad, also Im not sure which one you have but if it has Fan and it is Dirty clean it I have seen when fan on some models become dirty they stop running and set shuts off,let me know what the board numbers are to each board then i can tell you which company you will need to contact to fix set. But from what little you have told me it sounds like you may have some bad caps on power supply board 1000uf 25v.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. It is due to the high voltage shutdown which might be exceeded 33k and the unit shuts it self down to protect other parts being damaged. Also please check power supply regulation and horizontal circuits. If these are fine then it means SSB has gone bad. You’ll need to replace SSB. It will cost around $500+. As this board requires special set up, you’ll need to contact a qualified TV repair tech.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

This fix was posted on similar problem, worthy of repeating: Replaced 3300mf 10V capacitors at PS. Both had bulged slightly. Upsized to 25V as the previous solution poster had suggested 16V but I could not locate 16V so used 25V and TV is back to normal!

FLASHING POWER RED BUTTON 7 TIMES

I believe that is a bad power supply board. You can unplug set ,open the back access panel and look for swollen electrolytic capacitors they will most likely be slightly rounded on top instead of flat top like the others. Not sure if just replacing caps is enough we mainly swap out whole board. Some models' replacement power supply is slightly different from original in that a couple of the plugs are in different spots and require an extension cable.

Philips 42'' Plasma TV 42PF7320A/37 red led error codes

I had the Same issue. on a 50PF9431D/37 set. Many Plasma Set's use a LJ44-00118A PS-505-PH Power supply from Samsung. Known to have this common problem. If you can, or have a friend that can Solder components?. Unplug your set remove the back panel & locate your power supply. It will be the PCB in the center of the set just above the Video/Audio connections. http://www.shopjimmy.com/power-supply-unit-lj44-00118a-from-philips-50mf231d-40.htm. Is a Link to a photo of the PCB. Make a note of the locations of all cable connections then unplug them all. Un-install PCB, Check all Fuse first. I believe their is 5 or 6 of them on the PCB. Then replace the two 3300uf 10v 105C Radial capacitors at C8060 & C8059. Look to see if the Caps are deformed and or split at the top. The location of the caps are in the Lower bottom edge of the PCB. A local shop may Carrie them if not, digi-key has them. Part # http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=493-1754-ND. Total cost was $7 with S/H.
