PDP-502MXE dead set

I have a Pioneer PDP-502MXE 50" screen which has recently stopped working. There seems to be no power getting to the set as the s/by LED doesn't light. Any advise on fault and/or cost of repair would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello, I went to turn on my pioneer pdp 502mxe on the other day it blew the fuse in the plug, I replaced the fuse with another 5 another 5 amp fuse which it blew straight away when I tryed to turn it on again. I put a 13 amp fuse in the plug and now it sounds like it is trying to turn on but then closes down. It does this a couple of times and the green standby light goes on and off slowly.

Any advice would be greatly apreciated

    Thanks a lot, Dean

I have the same problem as deanos. My 10A fuse blew in set. Replaced a
large MOSFet on a heatsing with two others. Short between source and
gate. Now fuse is ok on power up but D407 lights after two relay clicks
and the Stdby LED is green for 5 seconds and off for 0.5 seconds. Relay
feeding high voltage AC to bridge rectifier is preventing this in the
shut down state. Static checks have not revealed anything obvious so
far on the main power supply panel. Please help if you can....

    Many Thanks.........Riddim36

The unit doesn't seem to get any power.

My PDP-502 failed in 2004. Pioneer service replaced the power unit but charged for the call-out (not like the US where it was FOC). I was told that replacing the fuse to test could cause additional failure within the unit and that I was lucky not to have tried.

Hi all,
this problem lis the power supply board. be aware that pioneer pdp-502mxe has got 3 versions and all 3 power supply boards are different so before ordering a new or reconditioned one check the part number on the power board itself.
pioneer is not replacing the boards anymore.
check on
i did sold so many parts from this model.

This same thing just happened to me. I read that it might be a power supply failure which Pioneer will fix.

Waiting for them to open during regular business hours. Hope this helps!

I heard a pop from my tv and then the tv didn't work

Anything is repairable as long as the screen isn't damaged.
The sound you heard is most likely was a capacitor that just went dead.
Solder in a new capacitor should fix the problem. It would most likely be on the power supply board somewhere.

You'll need the Service Manual for parts list, diagrams, and schematics. Here's one place for that:

Any other questions just ask.

Green spots/pixels at top of TV screen

I have a 50" Pioneer PDP-503MXE with the same problem - the fans don't run. It appears to be a problem with the temperature sensor that controls the fan speed. However, the fans can manually be switched to MAX.
To do this, put the display in standby. Press the 'Menu' button and within 3 seconds press the 'Power/Standby' button. The 'Integration Menu' will appear. Select the 'Option' tab on the right. Scroll down (next page) to the 'Fan Control' option. It will most likely be set to 'Auto'. Press 'Set' to change it to 'Max'. Within a few seconds the fans will run.
At Max the fans are a bit noisey but it will cool the unit down.
