Question about D-Link AirPlus DI-524 Wireless Router

In response to my recent D-Link 524 question - still not working

In response to my recent D-Link 524 question:

I'm sorry but I spoke too soon. I thought the problem was fixed but it only works if I connect from the modem to the router to the computer. It does not work wirelessly.

Should the power button and the WAN button still be flashing? I reset it and believe I correctly configured it on http://192.168.0.1 but am not sure. I selected ''Replace DHCP''. Was that right?

Does the flashing mean my router is broken? If not, it may be that I cannot connect the correct wireless network. The one I set up doesn't show up on the list somehow but it does show up elsewhere on the computer list. Yikes!

Thanks for your help!

Hi there,
By reset I am assuming that you mean you've pressed the reset button on the back of the router for 30 seconds to return it to manufacturer's state?
If this is so, and you're still getting the same problem, You need a new router.
Sorry for the bad news, but routers only last for so long. ESPECIALLY D-link.

Hi, DI-524

The final solution is a factory reset of your router. You can do a factory reset by logging into the router using you browser. Go to the settings and perform a factory reset

If you forgot the router password, you ill have to do a factory reset by locating a small hold on the back of the router and insert the tip of of paper clip for about 10 seconds while the power is on. The router will be reset to out of box status and then you can ssets-up form scratch.

I have a D link DI 524 802.11g/2.4GHz wireless router which I've

Login in using your browser and go to the wireless settings and set-up a wireless password/key. Remember the key because each device will now need it to connect. You can also turn OFF Broadcast SSID and your network name will not be shown on anyone's device. You must remember the network name when using this method.

You do not need the disc. Using you browser, login into the router using the default IP 192.168.0.1 unless this has been changed and you should be able to configure your router.

It is always a good thing to start the different peripherals in an order. First, you start your modem. Wait 30 seconds. Then, start the router; wait another 30 seconds; then the computer.

I have a wireless router on the ATT Yahoo dsl network and the modem provided by ATT needed to be bridged to allow the router to handle the PPP logon responsibilities. If this may be your issue I can help you work through it. In my case the ATT Yahoo rep I got after switching my service was very helpful in this regard.

Connect to wireless D-Link and Westell6100

I am assuming that you have a functional LAN cable connecting the Westell and the DI 524, right? If you are unsure, replace it with a cable you know is good.

If the 524 is turned on downstream of the Westell modem, it should find what it wants. You may try rebooting the Westell and seeing if the 524 finds it, and you maybe should reboot the 524.

Sometimes, when the world gets jiggered up I have to work pretty hard to get my DI-524 resync'd to my DSL modem.

Have D-link 704 router, can I connect the DI-524 to it also to add wireless?

Hi, I have not tried it myself with DLink but with LinkSys, yes it will work. It may take a little configuration tinkering but should work. However a few notes: 1. You should only have 1 DHCP server (both have this feature); 2. You can not have 2 identical IP address; 3. I suggest you make the 524 as the gateway and the 704 as a slave; 4. In effect you will connect 1 of the LAN port of the 524 to the WAN input of the 704; 5. You have to copy the WAN settings of the 704 to the WAN settings of the 524; 6. Or if you want to retain the 704 as the gateway, disable the identical features in the 524. I suggest you treat the 524 as a client of the 704. Hope this gives you some idea and work out for you as it did with my LinkSys. Goodluck and kind regards.

Are you using a DHCP server for boths sites A & B, or just using static IP addresses for all the PC's ? What is your IP scheme ? Are you using this D Liers just to connect sitenk routers just to connect sites A & B? Sorry for all these questions, I am trying to picture your network before attempting a solution for your needs.
