E:91:01 flashing and beeping few secounds after camera is turned on

I have never had any problems with my camera when all of a sudden I turned it on and the flash symbol came on the screen and then E:91:01 came on the screen then it started beeping and then it shut off. at first I could turn it on and take pictures but the flash would not work at all. Now I turn it on it starts to do all those things and then it shuts off. I have tried charging the battery does not work.

Same problem here as well. Takes pics but flash won't recharge and error code flashing on screen. Initializing is no help. Camera was purchased in Barcelona, SP back in August. Hope the warranty is good for repair in the US!

E:91:01 is a flash error you might fix it by initializing the settings of the camera but there is no guaranty.

1.turn the unit on
2.press the menu button
3. select setup
4. inside setup and search for setup 1 (option with a toolbox icon with a number at the bottom.)
5. inside setup1, pls select initialize and reply with OK to evety prompt(using the center button)
6.if succesfull(you'll get clock settings)
7.set the date and time then try the camera again.

if this does not work.... call sony cust service 1800-222-7669

If the problem persist even initializing the camera, the answer is a blown fuse. I solve the problem on a W50 replacing a fuse, in the picture (F1) 2A. Hope this help you. I suppose W55 is similar to W50 and others. Even if it's different, check all the fuses.

The E:91:01 shows up when the camera flash won't work, or the auto flash , and themessage shows up on the screen Error E:91:01.
Fixing this problem requires a full diagnostic, and fixing it requires the appropriate tools. This fix is not recommended for the amateur photographer as you can cause more damage to the camera and further parts needing repair. This repair can be done successfully as www.TeleplanCameraRepair.com has the expertise to repair it and restore your camera to new! Their blog has pictures and more details on what happens and what the camera does when this error shows up.

Have you tried resetting your camera? Powerdown and take batteries out. Then hold "power" button for 30 seconds, release and repeat couple of times.
