You can either use your recovery discs that came with the computer and re-boot the computer with the disc in the drive. The computer should ask you to"press any key to boot from cd" when re-booted. If it does not you will need to go into the BIOS and change the first boot device to the cd-rom drive. Or if your computer did not come with any recovery discs you can use the recovery program if it is built into the hard disc drive. You can usually activate this by pressing "alt" then "f10" when the computer first starts up. Sometimes the computer will tell you what to press to enter recovery mode when it first boots up.

I have a Seat Altea and need to know if I will encounter any CPU or alarm problems if I remove the factory fitted Blaupunkt radio entirely from the vehicle?

Radio's don't affect the security. But if installing another factory radio, it has to be programmed to your car. After market radios don't. If using an after market one, you will loose some chimes, like door, key, lights, ect...

Hp laptop has blinking red square above touch pad, comp. won't allow for reboot or restoring to factory conditions

If you do an illegal shut down which is power off by holding down the power switch for 8 seconds. The HP computer will then boot with the scandisk program, which will restore your hdd to perfection. Windows XP or later now use 'system restore' to rearrange registry from a previous calender date that the computer used to work perfectly.

My advent 9617 laptop has started switching of after aprox 1-2 minutes, this hapens in bios, and also whilst booting up windows

reset bios to the factory optimal defaults ..cause this is happening only when the max temperature point of the CPU is set too low and it is reaching it in a few minutes...and shut itself down ...
by getting to bios ..and look for the line when it says optimal factory defaults will remove any settings and suspicions in this direction...after that press f10 to save settings and reboot...If the issue is still on ..check the cpu cooler cause it is dead and it is not cooling the cpu and this is shutting down as a protection .....
also check out if it is charging ok may be the battery ..dieing in minutes..cause it is not keeping juice anymore..

High cpu usage, my laptop is so slow

Most likely your laptop has too many things running, and other issues.

If you can, the best bet is to save all your important files and pictures, and do a system restore to factory specs.

If you can't do that, try some other things first:

Make sure you have a good antivirus program running on this laptop, and scan the entire hard drive. If you don't have a Antivirus program,
You can download a free one , that works well, at :

Next, go to control panel, ad and remove programs:
work your way down the installed program list, and uninstall anything that is a trial program, any toolbars that you might have installed, or any programs that you don't want or need.

Next, run disk clean up , then disk degragmenter, and hopefully ;you gain back a little speed!

Vista start menu / all programs...

Download and install ccleaner.
This is a great little utility that you use to clean up windows and internet temporary files, clean your registry and most of all in the Tools>Start Up section view and delete or disable programs that start with windows.
The good thing about working in the start up section of ccleaner is not getting the reboot now and msconfig utility nag screen on reboot.
CCleaner is free by the way.

Restore factory settings

turn pc off with the system cd in the drive and reboot to cd. It will ask if you want to repair or install. Just follow the prompts to do a full reinstall. It will ask if your sure, and that all data on drive will be lost. Click yes and it will uninstall and reinstall everything to factory settings. Then boot the driver cd, and it will let you know what drivers are needed for your pc.
Make sure that your cd drive in bios is the first to start and not the hard drive. You can change that later if you want but I leave the cd drive as first so if there is a problem, I can use the disk to boot from. Also, only leave mouse, keyboard, and monitor plugged in. Unplug printers, scanners, ect:
After that, make sure you do all the update's and have a good antivirus program installed. I use Avast free and love it. Don't run 2 virus program. They will cause a conflick, so if you have one on the disk from the restore, remove it from add/remove first.

Good luck, it's easy to do and much easier that removing some of the virus's out there, and fixing some of the hardware conflicks
