When you pick "Safe Mode with Network Support", does the computer start up pretty much like normal after several screens' full of driver loads? The corners of the screen should indicate "Safe Mode" as well, but it SHOULD start. If this is not the case, you have a very serious problem and if you lived near me I'd be very happy to look at it ... getting to Safe Mode is usually done via the F8 key during startup. You may need to reload your Operating System also.

You must find a replacement disk, with the Operating System on it, and first place to start looking for one is on the Web Page for your computer's maker. You HAVE TO replace your Operating System, somehow.

If you have the recovery disk, use it to repair the system, if none then the installer for your OS (operating system) to do the repair, just boot your system to first read your cd rom to boot from CD then follw instruction

cause of your problem is corrupted files

Hi my laptop wont go to windows , it just saying prepare boot to os . can anyone help please

Windows may not be starting due to a driver problem. In any case, see if you can get into the Windows Advanced Options Menu as follows...
1. have the ac adapter connected
2. power on the laptop and watch the screen
3. when the Acer logo is showing, press F8 repeatedly
4. Windows Advanced Options Menu should now start
5. once you are in the Menu, use the up and down arrow keys to select an option
You could try starting with ...
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
OR
Safe Mode
where you could do a System Restore to an earlier date when the system was working
If none of this works and you don't have any user data that needs to be saved, then do as follows.
All Acer netbooks have a factory install image on a hidden partition of the hard disk. Suggest you should re-install the original windows factory image. All user data on the C: drive will be cleared by Acer eRecovery which you would start up as follows....
1. have the netbook connected to its AC adapter which is plugged into AC power line
2. power on the netbook and watch the screen as it starts up
3. when the acer logo is showing, hold down the Alt key and press F10 repeatedly
4. until screen indicates Acer eRecovery is starting
5. once eRecovery is loaded, follow the directions given on the screen

Try starting in safe mode and if that doesn't run press F8 or F11, depending on what make of laptop you have, to run Recover.
Hope this helps.

After installing the software then connecting the scanner my computer boots to desktop then shuts off repeatedly.

Hi
The drivers you installed for the scanner are causing your problem, you need to remove them.Make sure the scanner is disconnected from the computer for this.
Start your machine and right after the POST screen, before the Windows startup screen, tap the F8 key repeatedly until your start options screen comes up.
Try booting with the "Last known good configuration" option first. If Windows starts up and functions normally then it worked and has taken you back to right before you installed the software. If not,we'll restart and go through the F8 routine again.
This time, use the "Boot in Safe Mode" option. If you're not familiar with safe mode everything will look really big, that's normal.Go to Start-Programs-All Programs-Accessories-System Tools-System Restore.Start sys. restore and follow along until it asks you which restore point you want to use.Look for a point before you installed the scanner and pick that.
It takes a while to restore, and it will restart your computer at some point. And hopefully after that everything will be normal again.
Post back and let me know what happens with what you have so far.If none of that works there are other options, but those are the ones to start with.I'll be here.
If the steps above work, would youplease rate my post?

Windows not Starting Correctly

Hit F12 on startup and then put your Dell system disk in so it will boot from the CD.
When you get the startup, you will be prompted to see if you want to repair with the recovery console. Hit R and wait until it asks for the installation you want to repair. The option #1 should be windows, so hit #1. When it asks for the password, hit Enter (I hope you don't have an admin password, 'cause that's what it is looking for. If you hit enter and you get a c:\windows> prompt, type in the following:
chkdsk /r
After the scan runs, Windows should start. If not, let me know and we can do other stuff.

Startup with F12

Welcome to FixYa! Delete is the BIOS setup key at POST. F12 is a one-time boot option. Safe mode is accessed by repeatedly pressing the F8 key at the first Windows splash screen. Post again if you have further questions. Steve

Windows failed to start !...

Hi,
Boot your computer with the recovery CD In the Drive.
You should get the option ** Boot From CD**
highlight click Yes, and overwrite the O/S.
This will re-install windows over your existing version, replacing any corrupt-deleted-missing Files.
