Question about Heating & Cooling

1995 EF Falcon central locking problems! Can only lock it with the key from the passenger side, if key locked on drivers side or remote used, it just keeps locking and unlocking. Back doors aren't locking at all.

I hadn't thought of that, thanks! Unfortunately it didn't fix it, I have a feeling it could be a wiring problem somewhere between the doors? Wires all look intact, but still not working, I was thinking it could be the actuators, but the back two stopped working at the same time and the drivers side has been a problem since I inherited the car, I have spare doors off another Falcon and am in the process of extracting the actuators just to see if that fixes the problem, sadly they are held in with huge rivets and are taking me quite some time(and quite a few tantrums) to drill out, hopefully they work!

only managed to get one out anyway, it did work when connected, but then the one in it works too, it just cycles endlessly and I really couldn't be bothered taking it out after all the drama with the old doors! I have researched on the net and discovered that the EF had dodgy central locking to begin with and I am probably better off just fitting a whole new aftermarket central locking kit, probably cost more than the car is worth though! But I will ask you where should I be looking to oil or grease? I'll try anything at this stage.

I was kind of hoping that was all that was wrong with it, but alas it wasn't to be that easy! The remote hasn't had a battery in it for sometime and it is still cycling when using the key in the drivers door (although not the passenger door), I did get a new battery for the remote to see if it was a problem with the lock on the drivers door, but it just keeps cycling and the only way to stop it is to unlock the passenger side with the key, quite embarrasing sometimes!

Let's see if this works. on the rear top os the engine there is a stainless steel braided ground strap that is screwed to the firewall as well as bolted to the engine. This grounds the body of the vehicle Make sure the connections are clean and tight. Good Luck, Ned

are you able to test the actuators before you fluster yourself any urther? You may be able to determine if a good dose of grease or oil will help. Ned

If it keeps cycling, then it isn't a lubrication problem or actuator problem.. Has your remote been damaged in anyway or dirty? The battery, is it in good condition? I have R C cars and when the battery is weak they will lurch ,stop, and dothings I don't tell it to do or ignores what I do command.. Your remote sounds like it may be constantly in the command mode. Have your battery changed and make sure you buttons are not sticking in the pressed position. Good Luck Susan. Ned

Its not the lubrication either Susan, These are short stroke solenoids, rarely if ever needing lubrication. Could you possibly take a phone cam picture of one in place. The whole mechanism? It was a thoughtSend to co 7196@yahoo.com

Can the immobilizer or central locking be switched off in a Nissan Almeria 2001 car?

you can remove the central locking fuse , this will stop the lock/unlock constantly , the problem is usually with the drivers door lock mechanism , that is perhaps why you cant lock/unlock with the key, lock from inside vehicle and get out passenger side, that lock should work with the key until you get the lock changed on drivers door

Cannot open passenger door with the remote and the manual key but can lock. only the drivers door opens.

The central locking is faulty on the passenger door it's a common problem on the E90 models you need to renew the latch which contains the central locking actuator

1995 Ford Taurus windows and locks not working

The windows and power locks are controlled through a central computer module called the Generic electronic module, you must have this module scanned by the dealer (or a well equipped shop with a Ford compatible scanner) to see what is wrong with the system.

Wife taken clio to work with the spare key (no button), she has tried to lock the car but only the passenger side locks, the drivers side is unlocked, how can she lock the drivers door?

Hi,

As you have not stated the Year of Manufacture, I will provide the following possibilities:

Firstly, your wife must be using a sub-key (if no remote function). So, you need to determine if this was a factory supplied sub-key, or was a re-cut duplicate of the master key.

Secondly, the 'most used' key will usually wear out over time (and the driver's barrel lock will sometimes wear in accordance with the most used key), which would mean only that key will operate that door barrel lock successfully.

If the sub-key has not worn to the same degree, chances are the sub-key may not be able to engage properly when inserted into the driver's door lock.

This is common when using a sub-key - sometimes a sub-key won't start the car, but turning the key upside down will often operate the ignition. The same principle would apply to the driver's door lock also.

The key will often operate the door lock if you only insert it about 95% of the way , or simply turn the key upside down and try again.

If the key refuses to operate the driver's door, the other alternative is to enter via the passenger side and reach over to lock the driver's door from the inside. Then lock the passenger door behind you.

However, this is a major hassle, so I would recommend you obtain a replacement Renault key "FOB" remote (you can get these off Ebay reasonable cheaply - supplied with instructions) and program it to your vehicle yourself. This will enable both of you to have a central locking remote key fob.

Note: the remote fob programming feature will obvioulsly depend on the year of manufacture for your vehicle though.

1999 Audi A3 1.8T Electric Windows and Central Locking Won't work

will your passenger door open with the key and is it just one side that your windows are not working or both. if its just one side it might be your regulator motor in the door thats not working if its both it might be your central locking pump usually in the boot. however if both of them are working fine it could be that your key needs reprogrammed however i think the 1st 2 are more likely to be the problem.

Mgf central locking won't open the car doors

I had same problem. It was cured by "flicking" shut the interior opening handle of the drivers door. This allowed the central locking to lock then unlock the drivers door properly. You get into the car in the first place by using the romote to "unlock" and whipping the passenger door open quickly before it has a chance to relock!

All power door locks lock except the driver side front door

On my jetta, if you don't lock the doors with the remote then all doors lock except the drivers door. try this
1. closing all doors walk around to the passenger door.
2.open the door, using the button on the passenger door, lock the doors.

I had this happen to me on my jetta and found you could lock all the doors if you did'nt use the drivers door or you locked using the remote. They did this to keep the driver from locking the keys in the car. I hope this worked for you
