Try these steps. If this doesn't work you may want to take the card to Game Stop or something and have them test it to see if it's working. Hope this helps!
Insert the Memory Card into the PlayStation 2 console. The port is located directly above the controller port. Note that there are two different memory card ports; there is no difference between the two. Some games, however, will attempt to auto-load from slot one so it is recommended that you keep your memory card inserted in slot one.
Plug your controller into the PlayStation 2. Power up the system without a PS2 disc inserted. You will be taken to the system menu screen. Select the "Memory Card" menu to examine any data on the card. If the memory card is new there should be no data on the card, if it is used you may see old saves from the previous owner on the card. If you no longer desire to keep these saves, you may highlight them and press the "Triangle" button to delete them.
Insert your PlayStation 2 game disc into the system. When the disc appears on the system menu, select it. Load the game, and play until you are prompted to either create a user profile, or to save your game. Once you have saved any data to the memory card, reset the system.
Select the "Memory Card" menu and examine your memory card. You should see a new icon representing your game's save data. If this data appears on the card, you have correctly set-up your PS2 Memory Card.
If the data does not appear on the card, you will need to format the card. If the system detects corrupt data on the card it will automatically open a prompt asking if you would like to format the memory card. Select "Yes" and the PlayStation 2 will format the card.
Insert the PlayStation 3 memory card that has the corrupt
file into the memory card slot of your PlayStation 3 console.
Turn on the PlayStation 3 without a disc in the console or
with the loading lid open. A menu screen will then appear on your
Scroll through the options of the main menu using the down
button on your directional pad and press the "X" button when you get to the
Click on the icon that shows the memory card that you
inserted by pressing the "X" button. You will now be able to view all of your
memory card files. Locate the corrupt file and click on it with your "X"
Scroll through the list of options that appear and select the
"Delete" option by pressing your "X" button. The file should now be deleted.
Restart the PlayStation 3 and go back to your memory card to make sure the file
was deleted. NOTE WITH THIS IT WORK PROPERLY....
Start your PS2 with no game in the disc tray and then select your memory card then delete all of the files and then restart your system. Another thing you can do is put an audio CD in the PS2 and then go to your browser and go into your memory card and try deleting it files. Reformat your memory card
try going to the version press the triangle button then go to the console then enter then turn on the diagnostic then put the disc then go to the browser then wait for the cd to pop.(DO NOT TURN OFF THE PS2 OTHERWISE THIS MIGHT NOT WORK.)
i know what your experiencing and i had the exact same problem with my memory card a couple of weeks ago the only thing you could try if you need your memory card is just try and wiggle it around a bit if that doesn't work try and clean out your memory card slot and if that doesn't work you might have to replace it... sorry
I don't know if you have been trying to delete the data with a game inside the ps2, but in case you have, try this.
Turn on the system WITHOUT a game inside, select BROWSER,
the MEMORY CARD ICON, and i believe the corrupted data icon is a
grayish black square. Choose options and then delete. I am also heard that inserting a music cd will work as well, probably just has to not be a game inside the ps2.
Corrupted data comes from turning off the ps2, or
removing the memory card while the game loads or saves data to/from
memory card. I really hope that helps, ps2's are meant to be played! Good luck.
Try this... if you have another Mem card then insert it in second slot and start Sony browser now copy your save game data form Mem card 1 to Mem card 2. Place the second mem card in first slot and start game now load your game. Best of luck.
