Question about Acer Aspire 5003WLMi Notebook

1 Answer

I have an Acer Aspire 5003, having a problem recover the HD. I deleted the partitions on the HD, now I can not restore from the backup CD's, any suggestions? When I run the recovery SW, I get one of two errors, either it will tell me that the partitions don't match and stops at that point. The other, it may proceed and then displays the message that restore is completed, but nothing happens. I even tried to fresh install XP Pro (not the OEM sw), this allows me to partition the drive, but then it would not format the newely created partition, instead I get "format failure" error.

I'm not sure if this model has a hard drive test feature in the BIOS but it sounds like there may be a HD problem so the first thing is to run a diagnostic on it.

I've got Aspire 6930 and the hdu's partitions have been erased. I got the factory recovery cd's. What do I need to do to restore the factory partitions?

How was the partitions erased? Did somebody reformat the whole hard drive itself or just a partition. If the hard drive was reformatted then there's no way you can recover the factory partitions. Normally ther will be a hidden partition in the hard drive in case you want to use the recovery cds that came with it. And thru this, it will restore the factory settings on your computer on the state where you first got it. There is another option you can recover deleted partitions in case when the hd was reformatted like the stellar software, etc. but you have to buy it.

Acer 5520 restore failed 0xa000000e

I got it to work by deleting all the partitions on my drive (I first loaded xp, loaded system commander 9, and used that to delete all the partitions.)

Then while booting from the recovery cd, holding down alt-f10, the recovery dialog said it was partitioning the drive. (I didn't see this before, even if I partitioned the drive like it came from the factory.)

Then the rest of the recovery worked.

Will not boot up from start

if you haven't delete the recover partition in your hdd, you can do alt+F10 during boot.

if you don't have recovery partition, you can use cd (i hope you created recovery cd). just boot from cd.

other than that, you can buy cd from acer for Aspire 9300 and boot from cd to recover your hdd.
or if you have windows cd, you can install it from cd and find the driver from www.acerpanam.com

good luck

Acer 5050

by default acer 5050 have 3 partitions
1. OS partition (C)
2. Data (D)
3. Recovery partition (hidden).

If you deleted recovery parition, you can't recover your C parition using Alt+F10. Your only option is recovery from cd/DVD recovery that you created. if you didn't create the cd/dvd, you can call acer support to buy the recovery dvd.
