Try using a pin or paperclip in the small hole located on the front of the disc drive to manually open.

In windows, go to my computer, right click on the cd/dvd drive and select eject, does that work? if it doesn't. then you would have to take the computer apart - void the warranty most likely.

Open the side panel of the computer, possibly remove the plastic front cover. make sure the wires are connected to the drive properly, power and IDE or SATA cable. Then in the front, you should have a small hole that you can use a paper clip to push in and manually eject the drive.

if the drive still doesn't eject, buy a new drive from for example - get a DVD burner, (20-30usd $) unscrew the old one and remove it, put the new one on its place and so on.

Make sure if you buy a new drive that its the same type, if your drive has a 4 pin power cable (yellow, black, red wires) and a 40 pin / wire wide cable then its a IDE drive, buy a IDE dvd burner.

if your drive has a 4-5 pin power cable and a flat small wire like mostly red, then you have a SATA drive, buy a SATA dvd burner.

If you need futher assistance, let me know.

In front of your cd rom disc drive you will see a very small hole, try to insert a small sharp object or pin that will fit in the hole, that is the bypass key to open the disk tray

Why wont my cd drive work

see this and fix it. God bless you
Turn on your computer and open the CD drive by pressing a small button on the front of the drive. Use a can of compressed air to clean the lens by spraying a few squirts of the air into the drive. This will fix disc skipping if there was dust on the lens.

  • 2 Place a CD drive cleaner into the disc drive. This is a disc that is specifically designed to clean CD drives. Allow it to run for a few minutes, and then extract the disc from the optical drive.

  • 3 Click the "Start" button and then click on the "All Programs" option. Click on the "Windows Update" icon and then click the "Check for Updates" button on the left side of the screen. Click the "Install Updates" button at the bottom of the screen to update the drivers for your CD drive. Restart your computer for the driver changes to take effect.
  • 4 Unplug the power cable from your computer and use a screwdriver to open the tower door. Locate the CD drive cables inside the computer. Make sure that the CD drive cables have not loosened. If the cables are loose, then the drive will not operate properly.

I need to get a dvd out of the tray

Don't! first of all make sure that the dvd didn't tear into pieces, if teared then nothing to do, buy a new DVD Drive, if not you would notice a little hole in the front of it, try with a pin into that hole and push it, the tray have to come out, then everything will have to work as normal.

My games wont play and it says open tray

You have dirty laser or bad laser or dirty disc drive period. Try cleaning laser with qtip. If that doesnt work keep the disc drive apart and hook it up to the 360 make sure not to let your disc drive ground out anywhere on the 360. Hit eject button and close tray seeing if the laser even goes up with the tray. If it doesnt try greasing the rails and gears in there where everything slides.

CD in stuck in the computer and I can't get it out using the eject button. How do I get it to come out?

its too simple. you dont need to worry.. Check the front side of the CD ROM. you will find there one small hole. Now just take a thing, which is around the 4 to 6 inch (min is 4") long and can pass through that hole (for eg. take medium size U pin, and remove all bends and make it straight or long needle) Now insert this equipment in that hole and press. your ROM will eject...
Hope this has helped you ... Thanks....

    Disc Tray will not open

My Gateway model #AR-230 tray would not open after several years of use. Removed the black sheet metal cover from the player to access the tray mounting screws in the black plastic tray frame. By tightening or loosening the little screws on both sides of the front of the tray mechanism, I got the tray to slide out (open) reliably again. The problem is the very close tolerance of the internal tray mechanism with the front case opening causes a mechanical hangup or interference. chemicalladdie

    PS3 Won't Take Disc!

Hi, I think it was me who had helped you before. I will be glad to help again. Ok, first you have to tear apart your PS3 (just like when you cleaned it). Now looking at the rollers and "dogs" make sure that they are closed and not open all the way like when a disc is in it. Look at the flap on the top too make sure it opens and closes freely. Next, PLEASE BE CAREFUL!! Plug your PS3 in and try to hit the eject button, if it is reset and ready for a disc it will beep twice when you hit the eject button without a disc in it. Place the top back on the he DVD drive and try to insert a disc. At this point it should take it. If not then try hitting the eject again. Once the PS3 resets and takes and ejects discs again, then you can put it back together.

    Disc drive

Ouch. Try turning the unit 90 degrees (upright or flat, whatever's different) and hitting the eject button again.

Does the unit turn on okay? Is there a disc in the drive or is it empty?

If nothing else works you might be able to gently pry open the drive with the power off on the console. I suggest using a paper clip or very small screwdriver. Take it slow and try to pry it straight outwards.
