Question about Vizio GV42L 42 in. LCD Television

2 Answers

My Viziov GV42L (purch 12/06) flashes a blue screen saying ''No Signal''. The tv then shuts off after about 5 seconds. I had a tech come out to check the connections and it appears to be the tv. Is this a common problem? What is the solution?

Did the tech take a look inside at the power supply at least? A set this old will more likely to have capacitors problems.

You should have the capacitors on the power supply printed circuit board tested as well as testing the tv on more than one antenna source or dvd player source to ensure u are receiving signal. Good Luck.

I only get a blue screen with "No signal" on it. it doesn't stay on it shuts off automatically.

Power on your TV and press the INPUT button on the side of the TV repeatedly and rapidly until you can change it to a different input, such as AV.

If this does not work. Try this: With the TV off, press and hold the input button on the side of the TV for about 5 seconds. The TV should power on and the input list will appear. Let me know if either of these work.

I turn on the tv and i get a blue screen for 5 seconds and the tv shuts off. Any ideas?

This is normal on vizios, ours does it too. You have it switched onto RGB input. You need to change input after it comes on. Switch on and keep pressing change input button till it changes and then it will be fine. Alternatively plug in a computer on Rgb and then turn on, you will be able to change input normally.

It does not have any input connected. Without any input, the TV switches off.

The TV turns on but cannot find a signal (as has been normal when swictching to HDMI inputs). Usually it takes a second and the Cable or FIOS signal shows on screen. As of today, the images never comes...

Use Visio just for dvds?

(duh)

I will post this answer just in case anyone else out there has this problem.

Press the button on the remote that says AV. The blue screen saying "no signal" disappears and you can watch videos without a server or antenna connection.
