wildfire646, did you even think to shine a bright flashlight 1" from the lcd panel after the panel goes black to see if the "screen data" is still being displayed??? OR not being displayed? Report back with another comment to original! I suspect that you too have been hit with the BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH!!! Your "switch-mode-power-supply" will need to be repaired. What is the units warranty status?? How did the units display look 2 days prior to BSoD setting in??? How many "ON" hours of use does monitor have? You didn't ask "what do I do now! which is the most important thing! Did I hear you say "warranty"?? I'm 12fix louie on fixya and you should read some of the other responses I have done for more than 75 other monitor owners that are archived in my profiles on fixya. aka louie12fix hope to read something of yours. Bye for now.

Hi, I would like to piggyback on this issue since mine is similar. I pretty much leave my computer on all the time. The screen will go to sleep after inactivity. Two days ago the screen would not 'wake up' when I moved the mouse. I could faintly see the outline of objects on the dark screen. Pressing the power button off and on would fully illuminate the screen but only for a second. I would get a similar result when I would press the 'source' button under the monitor. Three times I have gotten the screen to come back up but when I leave it sit unattended it will again go dark. I checked the plug on the end of the power cord that goes into the back of the monitor and that looked fine (not blackened). Is this monitor salvageable? Any and all feedback is appreciated.

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

If you replaced the power board, the only thing it leaves would be the logic board or the screen itself.

Try another logic board if you find one cheap enough, if not, new tv.

I switch the power on power light comes on fan starts as if to boot then nothing, no screen and no keyboard lights

Does BIOS messages appear, or is the screen absolutely black?
If you see BIOS messages and then black screen, you should go to BIOS and choose your boot devices correctly. If there is no screen do the following tip:
1) Turn off the laptop.
2) remove the battery.
3) click and hold power button for about 30 seconds to discharge the circuit from motherboard.
4) then install the battery again
5) and click power button.

See what happens. In many cases it helps.
If there is still black screen, you should check your laptops RAM. In many cases removing and then installing back the RAM helps.

Dear Friend, It's a serious issue what I understood & confusion is control panel locking facility not avail in this model, how its locked?.. Simple method to catch the faulty part through power LED behaving s..(Power led located on power button)

# LED is OFF - This indicates that the Power Supply Unit is
completely dead. Try the following:
1 Check that power cord is connected correctly to the Printer and to the Power Socket.
2 Replace the Power Supply Unit
# LED is ON (all the time) - This indicates that the Main PCA is completely dead. Replace the Electronics Module
# LED is Flashing - A problem has been detected with the previous firmware upgrade. Try re-send the firmware upgrade file.
# LED Flashes twice every few seconds - The Printer cannot detect the Interconnect Cable. Try the following:
1 Check that the Interconnect Cable is connected correctly to the inter connector PCB & Electronic module.
2 If the Interconnect cable is connected correctly and the LED continues to flash twice then replace the Interconnect Cable
LED Flashes 3 times every few seconds - The Printer cannot
detect the Front Panel. Try the following:
1 Check that the Front Panel is connected correctly to the Interconnect PCA.
2 If the Front Panel is connected correctly and the LED continues to flash 3 times then replace the Front Panel
LED Flashes 4 times every few seconds - This indicates that the Electronics Module has failed. Replace the Electronics Module
LED Flashes 5 times every few seconds - This indicates that the Electronics Module has failed. Replace the Electronics Module.
Now U decide that whether firmware uploaded properly or not?..if not its sure that Electronic module gone.. you have 2 replace it..
Any further help/query pl reply, best of luck..

Screen not displaying. and fun starts and stops, remains stand by when restarted the fun runs and stops stand by.

hello there,

I got the same problem but it came gradually...

In fact for a full month when I first boot the computer, the fans runs, no extra beeps, the light blinked correctly but no bios at the screeen. I remarked also that the fans run full speed doing a lot of noise. Then I stopped the computer and wait 2 minutes and then it always works correclty at the second boot with the bios screen appearing. Also, the fan calm down after 1 second with less noise. So when I start the computer and hear that the fan calm down with less noise after 1 second, I know that the computer will boot correctly. That happens always at the second try after waiting 2 minutes. But since yesterday, the fans never calm down and the noise still remains high with no Bios at the screen. I'm suspecting the Power Supply...

i hope my i dea can help you.

See the picture or 1 second when power on the monitor

This sounds eerily like what happened to me a few months ago with a 15" Omnitech monitor I got at an online auction. Unless you are a tech, or at least confident in dissassembly of your monitor and toruble shooting component problems, you may need to find someone near you to help. My problem was bad capacitors in the inverter board circuit. (Google BAD CAPS or go to badcaps.com for more info on that.) I got really lucky that two of mine actually looked bad, they had swelled up, so I replaced them and the monitor now works perfectly.

For someone who does this for a hobby or living it doesn't sound too difficult. Don't try it on your own without proper help. I hope this helps.

Philips monitor

Sounds like you have a bad inverter. You will need to open up the monitor to get to the screen to access the inverter board and replace it. If you are handy you can do the job yourself but if not then you will need to take it in to a computer repair shop to have it serviced. Depending on how old this monitor is, the cost of the repair maybe prohibitive.

1 - Turn on TV and set input to port being used.
2 - Make sure PS3 is connected via correct cable.
3 - Power on PS3 via power button and HOLD IT for 5 seconds (release after the second beep). It should automatically configure your PS3 to the TV's native resolution for all settings.

When I press the power button LG displaying chars for 1 second

Had the same problem, turned out it was due to a faulty capacitor on the inverter board, 680uF 25V (105 celsius rated). Simple to fix once you have the unit dismantled and the correct replacement part. Two screws hold the shroud on, but you need to be careful with an (old) credit card levering it off.

Unit is now working fine.
