Hi, I spoke to Philips and they don't even sell parts for this unit anymore. The only cable Vance Baldwin have is the AC adapter (I confirmed with them as well on the phone) so I doubt you can find this cable anywhere. Sorry but there's not much we can do when it's impossible to find this cable.

Hi,

I believe this may be the cable you are looking for... although I would call Vance Baldwin before purchasing anything and describe to them exactly what you are looking for to verify that it is the right part. These guys should have one in any event, it's just a matter of insuring you get the right one.

Good luck.

if you bought that tv set brand new, and it was missing that cable. you should send it back to get it replaced, not buying another set of cables because of their fault

Laptop all whit screen

Dell Inspiron 1420 Notebook PC?

The white screen can be fixed. How?

Connect a VGA monitor to the laptop. Connect to the VGA port on the right rear. Example of a VGA Cable, and VGA connector,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA_connector

You can use a CRT type monitor, (Looks like a small TV), or a flat LCD screen monitor that has a VGA cable.
By default the display should show on the external VGA monitor.

No?
Press, and hold the Fn key down, and at the same time tap the F8 key ONCE.
Still no?
There are at least 3 display options available;

1) Internal monitor of laptop ONLY
2) Internal monitor of laptop AND external VGA monitor
3) External VGA monitor ONLY

Hold the Fn key down again, and tap once more on the F8 key.

No display on the external VGA monitor, means you have a bad graphics chipset. Replace motherboard.
Display does show on the external VGA monitor, means you have a problem with;

1) Video Cable
or
2) Screen Inverter
or
3) LCD screen

Video Cable:
The Display Panel Cable (Video Cable for Dell), connects to the motherboard by the left Hinge.
Goes under the left Hinge, and up into the Display Assembly.
It then connects to the Screen Inverter, and to the back of the Display Panel. (LCD screen for Dell)

From normal opening, and closing of the laptop, the Display Panel Cable may become pinched in the left Hinge.
This can cause;
A) The connection at the motherboard to come loose
B) The connection at the back of the Display Panel to come loose
C) Stretch the wires inside the Display Panel Cable's sheath, and damage the wires. (Break)

If you are lucky just the connection at the motherboard, and/or connection at the back of the Display panel, may have come loose.

Diagnoses is to NOT just look at the connections, but physically push the connectors of the Display Panel Cable, into the connector at the motherboard, AND back of the Display Panel.

Visually inspect the Display Panel Cable's sheath. Do you see any outward appearance of damage? This means the tiny wires inside may be damaged.
Replace the Display Panel Cable.

Remove ALL power. Remove the AC adapter (Charger), and Battery.
Remove the Keyboard Cover.

Unfasten the Keyboard, LEAVING the Keyboard Cable ATTACHED to the motherboard. Roll the Keyboard over, and lay it upside down on the Palm Rest Cover,

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins1420/en/SM/display.htm#wp1129771

[ NOTE*
Two Philips head screws at top of Keyboard. After removing, lift the top of the Keyboard up a little, slide it a LITTLE towards the Display Panel.
DO NOT lift it straight up at first.
There are 3 plastic tabs on the bottom of the Keyboard, that slide into the Palm Rest Cover. If you pick it straight up you will break those tabs off ]

In Removing the Display Assembly, note where number 1 points to.
This is the Display Panel Cable's connection, TO the motherboard.

Note where number 2 points to. Those cables going to the Mini-Card Antenna, HAVE to be reconnected, right back to the SAME terminals on the Mini-Card. Make a mark on the cables, and matching marks on the Mini-Card.

Use the instructions in Removing the Display Bezel.
Use the instructions in Removing the Display Panel.

View the last illustration in Removing the Display Panel.
Note how the Display Panel Cable attaches to the Display Panel, and Screen Inverter

Number 2 points to the connection at the back of the Display Panel
Number 6 points to the connection to the Screen Inverter
The Black connector that is not numbered at the bottom, is the motherboard connector of the Display Panel Cable.

This is a better view of the screen Inverter,

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Inspiron-1420-1421-LCD-Inverter-Backlight-Combo-/370274752470

Display Panel Cable checks out? Look at the screen Inverter. This small circuit board is located at the bottom of the Display Panel, and behind the Display Bezel. Closer look at link listed above.

Is the cable coming from the Display Panel Cable, plugged in tightly to it?
Does the screen Inverter look damaged?

Post back in a Comment, and we will go from there.

How to fix blank screen on dell laptop

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LEDflashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faultyinverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow myinstructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

1 Answer

Dell inspiron

Meaning the graphics chipset is OK.

Problem lies with the Video Cable, or Display Assembly.
(Dell: Display Panel Cable = Video cable)

The Display Assembly is the;
1) Display Bezel: Plastic thin frame in front of the LCD screen.

2) LCD screen (Dell = Display Panel)

3) Screen Frame: The thin metal frame which surrounds the LCD screen layers, and also holds them in place. (Resembles a picture frame, and can be disassembled)

4) Camera (If applicable)

5) Screen Inverter: (Dell = Display Inverter)

The Display Panel Cable (Video Cable) is a thin flat ribbon cable.
One end connects to the motherboard, the cable then goes up by the left Hinge, and the opposite end connects to the back of the LCD screen, in the Display Assembly.

1) A connection may be loose. One end of the video cable may be loose, to it's connector.
BOTH the connection on the motherboard, AND the connection at the back of the LCD screen, need to be checked.

This means partial disassembly of the laptop body, to check the motherboard connection. It is under the Keyboard.
ALL power removed from laptop, AC adapter (Charger), and Battery, the Center Control Cover needs to be removed next, then the Keyboard,

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins1545/en/SM/keyboard.htm#wp1179911

Also look at the condition of the sheath, of the video cable. If there looks to be apparent damage to the sheath, the tiny thin wires inside may also be damaged. (Stretched/Broken)

Checking the connection of the video cable at the LCD screen, requires opening the Display Assembly.
This requires removing the Display Assembly first,

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins1545/en/SM/display.htm#wp1109848

Both connections check out? Prove to be tight? (If you open the Display Assembly, and the video cable falls off, it wasn't tight)

I would then suggest performing a continuity check of the video cable.
Check each wire in the video cable. (Multimeter set to Ohm's, see if electricity passes through the wires. Continuity)

If the video cable proves to be good, then the screen Inverter is next.

An LCD screen cannot produce light by itself. (Or enough light)
It needs an additional light source.
A Backlight is the additional light source.

A Backlight can be a CCFL, or a series of LED lights.
The Dell Inspiron 1545 Notebook PC uses a CCFL as a Backlight.

A CCFL is a Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp.
Similar to Fluorescent lighting used in homes, and businesses, but on a MUCH smaller scale.
{ Example: 2mm Wide and 334mm Long. That is approximately a little thicker than 1/16th of a inch, (.078), and a little longer than 13 inches }

A screen Inverter converts the power (Electricity) from the laptop, for the Backlight, and LCD screen.

90 PERCENT OF THE TIME the fault is the Inverter.

Fortunately it is also the cheaper of the parts, when compared to an LCD screen, and is easier to access.

It is behind the Display Bezel, and mounted at the bottom of the LCD screen frame.

[ In the Display Assembly link above scroll down to the subheading -
Display Bezel.
In the first photo under the subheading, the screen Inverter is shown at the bottom, of the LCD screen.

This example shows it in more detail,

http://www.batterysupport.com/dell-inspiron-1545-inverter-p-206027.html

To test a screen Inverter you need a sensitive multimeter. This = $$$$
(Or you can use a good Inverter to test)
Barring that the two examples above are not feasible, the alternative is to buy, and replace the screen Inverter.

A) Video Cable checks out it's on to the screen Inverter.
B) Replace screen Inverter does not fix the problem, the problem is a bad LCD screen.

I'm betting on a loose connection of the video cable, at the back of the LCD screen. Just my thoughts.

Post back in a Comment, (Or Comments), as to your findings.

My pc will not work with my 32" tv screen it says

Without knowing the brand / model of the TV, PC video card, or Windows Operating System, I can only offer a general suggestion of trying a different resolution of the display on the PC.

Right-click an black area on your desktop, and click on "Properties". Click on the Settings tab to display the options shown below:

10_5_2011_4_37_35_pm.jpg

Adjust the "Screen resolution" slide control in the "less" direction (in the red circle) and then attempt to send the screen to the TV again. Repeat as often as needed until a workable set of resolutions are found.

If unable to get a display, provide the info asked for above, and include the length of the VGA cable and any adapters used.

Good luck!

D531 powers off when the screen is moved. The screen feels a little loose, so, I suspect a poor connection. Is this a common problem?

Not in any service bulletins I have seen, nor on the internet.

What is common is that the laptop may have been dropped, or an object left inside when the laptop was being closed, or eventually the hinges just wear out.

A loose, or defective hinge will put a strain on connections from the laptop, to the Display Assembly.
Damage, or a loose connection, can occur with the Video Cable.

(Video Cable from motherboard to Display Assembly, and cable to Inverter)

Dell Support > Latitude D531 Notebook PC > Service Manual,

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/latd531/en/sm/index.htm

Left-click on Display in the list.
Scroll down to the third photo.
Under - 8. Lift the display out of the cover

No.3 - Display cable pull tab - shows the video cable (Display Cable) connection to the motherboard.

See if this connection is tight.

The Display Cable is an FFC.
Flat Flex Cable.
It has NO connector on the end. It is a flat cable composed of individual wires, laid flat next to each other.
Each wire is insulated from the other wires.

The end of the FFC has bare contact pins for each wire.

The connector on the motherboard is a ZIF connector.
Zero Insertion Force.

The FFC is slid into the ZIF connector, in the PROPER alignment, so that the contact pins in the cable, line up with the contacts in the connector.
(OBSERVE which direction the FFC was installed before removing it. Some are installed twisted over one time. It MUST go back the same direction it was originally)

The ZIF connector has a blue Lock Tab.
This lock tab is brought straight up at a 90 degree angle, to unlock the connector, and free the Flat Flex Cable.

In the photo I pointed out above, the blue Lock Tab is in a vertical position. The position for removing the Flat Flex Cable.

Not a loose connection at the motherboard?
Check for obvious signs of damage to the sheath of the Display Cable.
The sheath could have been stretched, which in turn can stretch the wires, and possibly break them, or cause an intermittent connection.

No obvious signs of damage?
Next check the connection on the back of the LCD screen.
Not loose?

Remove the Display Cable.
Use a multimeter, and check each wire for continuity. (Ohms check)
Have a helper gently wiggle the cable, and see if there is an intermittent reading on the multimeter.
(Break in wire/s)

Check connections for tightness to the Inverter.

Report your findings back in a Comment.

My hp pavilion dv2000 screen will not come on. all led lights work but screen will only stay blank. What do I do?

Suggest you check first for damage to the Display Cable, before going further.

This is HP Support, the support page for the HP Pavilion dv2000 series laptops, and the Manuals download page,

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=1817074&

Left-click on the first file name -
HP Pavilion dv2000 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide.

After you click on the above PDF file name, you may not see anything happening for up to 30 seconds. The file is downloading in the background.
(For a test I downloaded it just now. Took almost 40 seconds with a medium speed DSL connection)

Don't know if you are familiar with PDF files. If so disregard the following.

Suggest you view the file at the 100% view. You can enlarge the view later anytime you wish.
At the top header is a Zoom In icon, and a Zoom Out icon.
Zoom In +
Zoom Out -

To the left is the Bookmarks menu.
By default it opens to the main heading - Maintenance and Service Guide.
Left-click on the + sign to the left of Maintenance and Service Guide.

Scroll down the sub-headings, and left-click on the + sign to the left of -
Removal and Replacement Procedures.

Now scroll down, and left-click on -
5.12 Display Assembly

You're on Page 145.
Use the blue Down Arrow in the top heading, and scroll down to Page 146.
I want you to view the Display Cable, item number 1.

Enlarge the illustration.
Scroll the page up a little for better clarity of the Display Cable.

The number 1 is pointing to the male connector on the end of the Display Cable, that plugs into the motherboard.
It is shown unplugged from the female (White) connector on the motherboard.

The Display Cable connects to the motherboard, and then routes to the LCD Display screen via right by one of the hinges. (Left Hinge)

Opening, and closing the laptop can cause the Display Cable to become partially disconnected from the motherboard.

The area the cable routes through, may cause damage to the cable over time. Generally the damage is visual enough to see.
Sometimes the cable is stretched, and the damage is not readily apparent.

The tiny wires inside that cable's sheath can be stretched far enough to break, and the outside sheath will show no apparent damage.
Fun stuff, huh?

Most of the time however, the male connection on the motherboard, has become partially disconnected.

To access the Display Cable:

1) Remove all power to the laptop.
Remove the AC adapter (Charger), and the Battery.

2) Lay the laptop on a table, push the LCD display assembly until it is laying flat on the table.

3) Remove the Keyboard.
(Page 137)

4) Remove the Switch Cover.
(Page 141)

I await your reply (Via a Comment) after you have opened the laptop, and diagnosed whether you have a Display Cable partially disconnected, or damaged, or no apparent damage is visible.

[ You may have to remove the Display Bezel from the Display Assembly, and look at the connection of the Display Cable going to the Inverter.
