Question about Toshiba Satellite A215-S4747 Notebook

My toshiba laptop starts up and goes to the first page where it says toshiba innovations along the middle of the screen. then it goes to a black screen and in a blue box in the center it asks for a password. Tried the password to open up my desktop but it does not work. Can u help?

There is a known issue on this model and Toshiba knows about it. A password can be automatically be set by the computer and will need to be removed and have the BIOS updated so it won't happen again by an "authorized service provider." You can locate your closest Toshiba ASP at support.toshiba.com This is a known issue and Toshiba knows about it. You should get this covered at no charge if you take it into an ASP, make sure to verify this with the ASP and take it somewhere else if they tell you it will cost you anything. Toshiba will cover this till December 31st 2010.

AFTER YOU ON THE SYSTEM BEFORE WINDOWS STARTS KEEP PRESSING THE F8 KEY CONTINUEOUSLY. A MENU WILL APPEAR. SELECT SAFE MODE AND ENTER. WINDOWS WILL LOAD IN SAFE MODE. THIS WILL SOLVE SOME OF YOUR PROBLEMS. NOW RESTART THE SYSTEM IN NORMAL MODE.

IF THIS DOES NOT WORK SELECT "LOAD WINDOWS WITH LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION " AND THEN RESTART. THIS WILL SURELY SORT OUT YOUR PROBLEM.

Satellite A-215 goes to black screen. Has always


Sometimes my laptop does this as well. It seems to happen more and more when it is warm. You might try putting something underneath it and ensure it is getting enough air flow. Once I started doing this, mine has been doing it less and less. Hope this helps.

Television hAs a black box blocking picture in the middle o he screen. when you hit volume the black goes away until the volume icon goes off


Go to ur tv menu.Go in captioning turn off all 1,2,3 and all txt will stop the black box in the middle of the screen.

seems to me like your screen has developed some bad segments and will need to be replaced, you will need to take apart the laptop to remove the screen/display and purchase a new one and replace it,

When i turn on laptop the toshiba leading innovation comes on then the screen goes black/darkblue then nothing


first you have to do is entering bios by pressing "F2" or "del" tab, check the primary bios setup is your hardrive detected or not, if it is detected then go on...
second, still from the bios, configure the boot priority, mark harddrive as the first primary booting...
if it is not work, then u have lost OS, could be infected by virus or some missing program..
in the case u have to reinstall/format your OS

Does Not Turn On


First thing you're gonna want to try is reseating the memory.

Second, see if you can get into the bios by pressing F2, F10, DEL key it depends see if you see something on the screen, sometimes pressing ESC does it. It all depends.

Try that first and let me know what happens.
