Hitachi Ax-m131u 'locked'

I own a HITACHI AX-M131U mini Hi-Fi.

Please help!

I the last week my player has suddenly 'locked' on me.

I went away for a few weeks and turned all my systems off. When I came back I turned the Hitachi Hi-Fi on at the wall socket.

It displayed

- - : - - [not flashing]

the only input it would accept from the remote/hi-fi buttons is pressing standby, when the screen then displays

the only input it then accepts from the remote/hi-fi buttons is to press 'CLOCK' - when you press the '+' or '-' or number buttons it then displays

0:00 [not flashing]

and accepts no further input from any source.

However many times I turn the system on/off for however long will not solve the problem.

I'm completely confused, and of course the system is now out of warranty!
