I have a xerox xa7-19i monitor which in the last week has started to go blanks with flickering as the computer boots. I can occasionally get the screen to come on but each time have to turn everything off at the plug and can take 5+ attempts. Computer appears to be booting OK as all lights look OK. Screen is OK at the moments as I am using it to send this. Also when I leave the PC on the monitors seems to shut down after some time and I cant get it back.
Very grateful if you can help S
Sounds like you've got some blown capacitors on the internal hardware of the monitor.
Unless you are a seasoned computer hardware expert or electrical engineer I'd recommend you replace the monitor.
The capacitors that are blown are likely controlling the power aspect of your monitor, and aren't totally defective yet.
Most computer shops would not be able to repair your issue, due to lack of skills related to monitor repair. So you're going to find replacement the easiest / cheapest solution.
Of course you can try to ride out the problem as long as you can. But it will get worse over time.

When looking at a windows desktop screen the picture seems OK but when typing a WP doc the background has lines across the white areas approx 2mm apart. If this screen is scanned twice to make up the picture it looks like the scan lines are not in sync.
