Question about GE Refrigeration Profile CustomStyle 22.6 Cu. Ft. Side-by-Side with Refreshment Center - PSC23SHT...

1 Answer

GE Profile Arctica Refrigerator has lights on intermitently but the panel which adjusts the temperature won't accept input changes. The actual LED displays only flash on momentarily and it is most definitely out of warranty. The refrigerator itself is not cold nor is the freezer. Although hooked up to a water line, it doesn't dispense water. It has been sitting in a vacant home for most probably a year and I would imagine the power has also been off at times. No way to be sure. I am buying the home and trying to determine if there is an easy way to determine if I should spend any time trying to fix this or if I should just have it hauled to the curb.

I would suggest replacing the main control board . This board is on the back of the refrig , behind an 8 " X 10 " panel . If that doesn't work , dispose of the refrig . ( but I think it will )

GE Profile Arctica fridge running too cold

You may want to check your damper assembly to see if the door is broken. If the door is broken it will air to migrate to the refrigerator compartment causing freezing issues. Also check to make sure that the damper door is not staying open. When you take the cover off with the door open the damper should close. If the damper is open then you need to replace the damper. Here is the damper to order.

If you have changed temp and adjusted vents, then either your temp sensor may be faulty or thermostat itself may be faulty. Check compressor to make sure it is pumping and there is no freon leaks.
