Question about Cell Phones

4 Answers

I work in an office with multiple phone lines. I have a specific number, where the number goes to an AT&T voicemail that I set up. Recently, when people call my number, it goes to the general office voicemail, set up through the nortel phones. How can I make sure that my line goes through to my AT&T voicemail?

Hello Ben, thank you for using Fixya's services.

First, I would like to apologize for the one liner answer you received. As a moderator of Fixya, we try hard to stop these types of answers in their tracks but a few escape us.

As for your question; Your calls are currently going to your office voice-mail and you would like to receive them in your AT&T voice-mail. This can be done two different ways.

One, forwarding your voicemails to your AT&T voice-mail after a specific amount of rings, say four rings. There should be detailed instruction in the Nortel manual or you can visit the website to retrieve the instructions.

Two, would be to disable the office voice-mail permanantly and have your voice-mail as the main one. This would need to be set up with your office staff, probably the IT technician can disable and make the changes for you.

Choice one is the most prefered as you can switch back and forth, depending on which voice-mail you would like as the default.

Again, I apologize and thank you for using Fixya.

Please let me know if you have any questions and if you can provide me with the model number of the phone, I can assist further.

Hello. I can assist you. Some large offices appoint a person to oversee the phone systems. This person has the knowledge and the guides, and the access to solve your problem. If you have such a person go to here/him with your request. If there is no such person then the phone provider must come to the office periodically to add and delete people, tweek the systems, etc. You will have to channel your request to that person. Thanks for choosing Fixya. Best regards, Joe

U will need to call the phone service provider for the office phone system u have and ask them to set up a call forwarding service for your particular number, that way when a call comes in to your number it will be forwarded to your AT&T voice mail

Set the Nortel voice mail off or forward the specific number directly to the AT&T voicemail. If you cannot set the Nortel voice mail off you should be able to establish a sequence that it follows before taking a message. Make the AT&T voicemail the first priority in that sequence. Once it takes the message the sequence will end and not get to the Nortel voicemail.

How do I increase ring time before phone transfers to voicemail

Which phone are you using - please be specific.

Generally Go To Settings > Call Settings > Additional Settings / Call Forwarding Settings > Voice Calls > Change the always forward Settings, here it will ask you for Number of Rings Before Forwarding. Change that as per your convenience.

How do you set the number of rings before phone goes to voicemail?

The ring count is determined by the voicemail system. The Edge 120 is a phone, not a voicemail system. What voicemail system do you have on your phone line?

I just wanted to ask how to shorten the number of rings before it goes to voicemail on a t7316 and t7208 phone. Thanks

You may need a tech if unsure of programming, passwords and navigation.
In Config or Admin under Sets/Capabilities you will see Forward No Answer, that needs to be pointed to the voice mail ext # (F985 to see what that is), then after that setting is the ring count....4 is recommended for average office staff.

Change voicemail PW on used phone

You'll need to go to your carrier or call in and ask that they reset the password as it is a Network setting and not something that is attached to that specific phone (which is why when you get a new phone with the same phone number, the voicemail transfers over)

How to get voicemail from another phone nortel 7316e I am trying to get my office messaged from my cell.

If your trying to get your messages from another nortel set in the office press your open voicemail button or feature 981. The left soft key below the screen should say OTHR. press the soft key the screen should change to LOG: enter in the mailbox number followed by the password and #.
If your trying to get your messages remotely, call into the office and when the auto attendant answers, press ** followed by your mailbox number password and #.

Trouble with call forwarding to our multiple lines & voicemail

It's not and they're idiots. The hunt sequence you describe CF-No answer is part of their arrangement, probably Centrex/Centranet.

This is one of the sloppiest setups they can possibly give you, but it relates to destinations for CF busy and CF no answer. Get someone who has a clue and tell them to adjust the time on the No Answer part, or, better yet, give you something that really works.

Change the number of rings - Samsung D500

Hi,

This is a network related setting. Do the following.

from your home screen, type "* 61 * (voice mail access

number) ** (time in multiples of 5 ) #" and then press SEND. For
example, if my voicemail

access number is 404-555-1212 and I want it to ring for 20 seconds
before forwarding to

voicemail, I would type: *61*14045551212**20#
