Question about T-Mobile MDA

Cannot Activesync TMobile MDA Pocket PC on as Specific Computer (works on others)

My Tmobile MDA PPC w/Windows Mobile 6 syncs fine on my other computer.... but for some reason windows does not recognize that the PPC is connected with my laptop (USB) at work. It use to, but won't anymore. I can get it to sync through IR (infrared) just fine.

It is definitely a problem with my laptpop (since the other computer can see it just fine through USB). This isn't a sync relationsihp issue because the computer can't even see the device.

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling activesync, restarting computer, restarting handheld, etc. None of that is doing jack sh*t.

I've tried different USB ports too.... this is just frustrating =(. I have bluetooth on the PPC and the Computer.... they can see each other... i can't set up that either..... any ideas?

    Good idea... but it didn't work... i'm starting to think maybe it is the USB cable that i have at work (although it is charing the device.....other computers can't even recognize the device with that cord)... i'm going to try a different one tomorrow.

You sound like you know what you're doing, but here's something quick to check - click on the hotsync arrows in the system tray and see what kind of connection is checked. This should be the same setting if you click the hotsync icon on the palm once.

If that's not it, try this to see if your computer is having problems detecting it -
Open up device manager and look down at the USB controllers. Sync the palm and see if a Yellow triangle with an exclamation in the middle pops up - If so, double click on it and try re-installing the drivers.

In order to sync your iPAQ with Windows XP or earlier, you will need to download and install Windows Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5 from:http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/activesync-download.mspx.

Notes:
You can use ActiveSync 4.5 only with phones that run Windows Mobile 2003 or later versions. ActiveSync and Windows Mobile Device Center won’t work with Windows Embedded CE 4.2 or 5.0, Pocket PC 2002, or Smartphone 2002 phones. (To see which Windows Mobile operating system you’re using, if your phone doesn’t have a touch screen, click Start > Settings > About. If your phone has a touch screen, click Start > Settings > System tab > About.) To sync information to any of these phones, you must use a USB or serial cable and your computer’s Internet connection and File Explorer.
You must use Microsoft Outlook 2002, Outlook 2003, or Office Outlook 2007 to sync your e-mail, contacts, tasks, and notes from your computer.

Download and install ActiveSync:
1. Click the download link on this page, and then click Continue.
2. Select whether you want to register for the Windows Mobile newsletter, and then click Continue.

My pc is not detecting my T-Mobile MDA


in windows, right click on the CD player with you cd in it.
click explore and look for USB Drivers.
Install the drivers and try hooking your phone up again.
Try using a fast USB 2.0 port on the computer.

Active Sync. on an MDA Vario 3


i had this problem, everytime i refreshed the mda the pc showed that the phone was connecting then once the mda vario had stopped the connection was lost, what i did notive was that the com port for active sync showed up on my pc as com port 4? which isnt a choice on the mda as there is only 2 ports available com 6 and com 7, what i did was to add new serail services to the pc until i was given com 6 as a choice,(because by default the pc starts off as com 4 then com 5 etc, so goto the bluetooth configuration then click on client apps and keep adding new service until you get com 6 then try and sync via activesync on your phone, if that doesnt work make sure that you have added new bluetooth device which gives you options of what services you would like the phone to use with the pc, click activesync then configure it to connect on com 6 voila that should work fine iv just updated mine to netframework 2.0 and can now run all the apps i want, any problems email me on iwannatoken@hotmail.co.uk il be happy to assist any way i can as i was stuck on this problem for ages and ages until i finally solved it hope you succeed.

Set it up with what? Do you mean sync with your computer? Are you using USB or Bluetooth?

Best thing to do.

1. Unplug your USB connection from PPC -> Computer
2. Uninstall Activesync if you have it installed
3. Restart your computer
4. Re-install activesync
5. Restart your PPC
6. When asked to connect the PPC connect it via USB

MP3's work the best but WAV will also work.

1. Sync your phone to a pc with Activesync 4.1+

2. Open My Computer

3. Open Mobile Device

4. Go to My Documents on Mobile Device

5. Go to My Ringtones on Mobile Device

6. Drag and drop your MP3/WAV files to your My Ringtones folder on Mobile Device.

7. Go into PhoneStart-->Settings-->Phone and change your ringtone!
