Question about HP DeskJet F4280 All In One Printer InkJet
It's really pretty simple once you know how. Open the front end. The cartridges go all the way to the right. Press down on the cartridge itself, and it will release from the carriage. Reverse procedure with new cartridge.

hi steve... the solution to your problem is a costly one. the printer keeps in memory 2 cartidges for colour and 2 for black, when a third is placed in the printer the first one is deleted out of memory same for the colouredand same for the black... therefore you need 3 cartridges each to do the trick.
eg. if you want to use colour cartridge #2 then 1st place colour nuber 1 or 3, then turn it on let it reads, then open door and place in colour number 3 or 1 let it read, then take out and place in coulur number 2 and it will see it as new

I had the same problem. It was solved once I bought an original color cartridge. Refilled cartridge seems not to work on this printer. Glad if it might help.
