I need a cable to connect a Macbook Pro OSX 10.6.6 to an Optoma EX540 DLP projection display machine. What do I use?

According to this site:-

http://www.projectorreviews.com/optoma/ex540/specifications-id2350.php

You could use a HDMI cable, do you have a HDMI output on your laptop?

It also mentions that the projector has Component, S-Video, Component compatibility.
If you don't have a HDMI output on your PC, you may well have one of these.

It also mentions a wired networking capability so a standard RJ45 cable should do.

and if you download the projector spec sheet .pdf file from this web site, it also mentions a wireless capability, you may not need a cable at all.

Hi i want to connect a tv to my optoma hd 66 projector

hi,
You can't be able to connect a tv to your projector, because it doesn't have a monitor out.
There is only one way. If the source is a DVD player then connect the its HDMI output to the projector and the component video out to the tv. You can't be able to get video out from the composite video output of your DVD player, when you are using HDMI. When plug the HDMI it will switch off the composite video out. The component video out remain ON whether you connect HDMI or not.
ok

I just got a new Optoma HD20 and only after 1day of use it is not showing HDMI signal, although it is showing VGA signal. Why is this?

Hi miracles4all: I solved HDMI signal issue in my Optoma HD20. In my case it was the lack of contact between the HDMI cable plug male ending and the Optoma HD20 HDMI female port. My 35ft cable plug male HDMI ending was not completely "seating" in the Optoma HD20 HDMI female port. I solved the problem by purchasing a HDMI female to female coupler and adding a 3ft HDMI cable that had a slim male ending. This 3ft HDMI extension cable made better contact to the Optoma HDMI port and the projector was immediately able to detect HDMI signal. Hope this helps you... kaufmanekpr

I have an optoma HD20 and it connects using a 1.5m HDMI but as soon as i try a 10m HDMI connection (even with a booster it does not connect) any suggestions welcomed?

Hi kgomer782 I have similar issue. My optoma hd20 signal connection with a 3/6ft hdmi cable is perfect. However, no signal is detected when connected to a 35ft hdmi 1.4 cable. The 35ft cable is indeed working becuase I tested it succesfully when connected to a 1080p HDTV. Did you received any solution to your problem? I wonder if it has anything to do with the HD20 design of the "debossed" hdmi ports that prevents the cable plug from getting completely "seated" in the port? My 35ft cable has a flat square male ending however, the 3/6ft cables have slim male ending that seems to accomodate perfectly in the Optoma's hdmi port design...kaufmanekpr
