Question about Canon PowerShot A70 Digital Camera
If you read through some of the other problems/solutions on this page regarding the A70, you'll see that it is probably the CCD image sensor at fault. This is a typical problem with this model (I've had the problem myself!) and Canon will fix it free of charge, including shipping and handling.

Under your screen, there are 3 round buttons. The one on the right says "Disp.", which stands for "Display". Press it and you should be able to use your screen instead of the viewfinder to take pictures.
