My Dell 4700C PC will not start

I returned from vacation and my Dell 4700C PC desktop would not start. I have checked the obvious (power to the system) but it will not start. While we were gone, the power in the house went off at least once and I am wondering if that had something to do with it. I would appreciate any assistance that can be provided.

I've had similar problem with some PC's after power spikes

Try this, it works sometimes
Unplug the power cord, if the powersupply has a switch on the back turn it off then back on, plug in and turn on, if no go, then do as Cbri said, replace PSU

Sounds like a blown power supply. Easily fixed. Go the a local computer store and buy a 400+ watt power supply, open your case, remove the 4 screws in the back, all the power plugs and replace with the new one.

I have dell dimension 4700c I just get black screen all diagnostic light are green there are on beeps I have try F2,F8,F12,Windows turn it on take power cord out nothing is working pleas ehelp

You should try a different monitor if you can. I can't tell if you see the motherboard's BIOS, but if you don't, then I bet it's the monitor. If you can't find another monitor to plug it into, your TV might have the correct input. Hope this helps!

Dell 4700C randomly goes into "sleep mode" and doesn't wake up.

Honestly, my first suggestion would have been to upgrade your memory. If you go into control panel and check your power settings (I'm assuming you're on windows XP) Do you have all of you options set to "Never"? You may also want to check your BIOS settings to see how your sleep/hibernate is set up. Aside from that, you'd have to run some hardware diagnostics to give a better idea of what to look for. Hope this helps!
