The armature is heating up also the bearings could be bad.. on speculation actually you need a new electric chain saw. it will cost more to have that 1 fixed than what you paid for it...

I WILL TELL YOU ... I have started many many a chain saw... and the chokes are nearly useless...
FIRST RULE: always use only fresh fuel...!!
Proper sequence for an ice cold saw (optimal adjustment)...
- squish the fuel bulb a couple of times
- set the choke
- couple of yanks until it coughs...
- completely release the choke and the next yank will get you running
If you have NO CHOKE... JUST leave the THROTTLE ALONE
until it coughs... Then start juicing the throttle...
Feb 26, 2013 - Does anybody have any idea what I can do to get my chainsaw started?... Clean carburetor and fuel lines, especially if it may contain old fuel. ... that prevents it from generating enough current to sustain repeated firing of the spark plug as the engine turns. ... Your muffler is pluged up your saw can't exhaust.
If it cost more than 300, than yes worth fixing ... but if u paid around 150 for it then no. If u did the repair yourself, yes.. is this an electric chainsaw?.. Junk...

Some saws have a throttle lock that locks the trigger to aid starting. Get a look at the carb to see if it opens when the trigger is pressed and closes when the trigger is released. If it stays open the lock may not be releasing or the throttle linkage is bound up or disconnected from the carb.
1st add fuel/oil mix to fuel tank , then top off oil tank with bar oil , place saw down on flat surface , press 'ON" button above trigger handle to ON (its marked on case) then pull out blue choke handle till it clicks and stays out , press primer bulb with thumb 8 to 10 times bulb will become harder to press as it fills carb , push chain brake forward (on) ` place left hand on top of saw and right hand on start cord , hold saw down firmly and pull cord vigorsly several times till it sort of starts (sound) , squeeze trigger in and pull cord once more , saw should take off running , chain wont move ,walk to wood pile then disengage the chain brake and cut wood , if saw fails to start after this procedure then there must be a fault in saw , consult a exp small engine dealer for repairs
To lock the choke on:- 1. depress dead mans trigget on top of back handle 2. squeeze throttle trigger fully in. 3. slide on switch fully down to 'full choke' position. 'it should stay there'. 4. Pull saw over until it fires once. 5. click 'on' switch up one position to 'half choke' 6. pull saw over again, saw should start running and be revving high. 7. 'blip' throttle, saw should stop revving and run on tick over.
I didn't see a complete engine assembly at Poulan. Ask them.

Try adjusting the idle. The will be a couple adjustment screws, there will be an (H) and (L) you will need to turn the (L) First tighten the sdcrew completely then turn it 1-1/4 turns. This will be a good to start. Then just turn it small amounts until you get it to idle. Also there should be an idle adjustment you can adjust.
