I recorded my sons wedding with a dvd-rw. I went through the finalization steps. When I tried playing it on a dvd player it wouldn't recognize the disc. I tried to finalize again or unfinalize and the...

There is definitely a solution for this but you must use a computer to recover the information on that disc. It also depends on the software you are using to recover such information from the disc. My recommendation would be that you start by simply inserting your disc in the DVD Rom on the computer see what happens when you open My Computer on the Desktop then you click on the DVD rom icon to see if the DVD opens. If it opens it means the information on the disc can be read. so you click again on the folder that appears. If you have a media player installed then that media player will play back those video files. These files can then be transferred to the computer then authored by a computer software like Nero. There are many other programs that can do this job. Also such software can open sometimes such a disc if and when the windows operating system's My computer fails to open it.

Can I copy a CD R To aDVD R , I have still photos from recent wedding, burned to CDR,but will not play on DVD player on TV, can I copy this CDR to A DVDR disk

It's not enough to merely copy to a DVD. You need to create a Video CD or DVD video to make them playable on your DVD player. Nero and other video authoring software should have this option.

I can burn the cd no problem its a video of my

Ken --

You probably made a perfect copy of your wedding day (congratulations!)... the problem with burnt DVD's is the player they are played on. For WHATEVER reason, -R and +R disks seem to play better on old or cheap or portable (or a combination of all three) players than on the super-nice ones. I have burnt hundreds of DVD's, and I have yet to get but a handful to play on my "nice" DVD player... instead, they play perfect on the kid's one that we strap to the car headrest for roadtrips...

Ok... if there is a solution:

#1 - Buy good media, the lower the quality the more chance for error (slightly imperfect thickness = vibrations during burning, etc)

#2 - Try lowering your burn speed to 2.4x, seems to add to odds of being read by better machines

#3 - Are you finalizing your disks? Many computers can "get around" an un-finalized disk, but a DVD-player has a much harder time. Check with your burning software's help menu to be sure and "finalize" or "close" the disk when done

#4 - Have you tried a different burning app? Sony's "Vegas" software is unmatched in quality (but a bit expensive) , but cheaper apps like "VSO DivxToDVD" can convert .avi files to burn-ready video files, which can then be burnt with my all-time favorite burning app, "DVDFab 5"

Whew! I hope something in this helps!

If you have further issues, comment to this thread and Iwill be happy to assist you!

I burnt a video to a DVD+R DL but not playing on my DVD player?

You don't need to format the disc, as it does this during the burn process. What you may find is that your NEC dvd player does not play DVD+R. If you can, re-burn the video on a DVD-R 8.5GB.

You can also compress the video to fit on 4.7GB dvd. Download a program called DVD Shrink 3.2. Put the disc you burnt in the drive, and run DVD Shrink. This will analize the film, and all you need to do is click on Re-Author and lower the compression. It even has a line to show how big the video will be on the disc. On a 4.7GB dvd, you don't want this any higher than 4,430MB.

Hope those work

Our wedding video was recorded on a DVD +RW disc on a Sony DCR-DVD108 camcorder. I did watch it on the camcorder once. I then finalized it so I could play in on my computer and DVD player. Now nothing...

It's possible because your DVD is an RW that someone could have reformatted it on accident erasing the video. If you have something important to preserve make sure you do not use an RW DVD because accidents can happen and it could get wiped out unintentionally.

A friend gave us a dvd of a wedding. We played it on our player but ever since then the player won't play anything. It just clicks for several seconds and then an error displays on the tv that it can't...

Get a lens cleaning kit. Most likely some dust got on to the laser lens.

A non compatible CD or DVD disk cannot damage a CD player. There is no actual physical contact between the disk surface and the laser unit.

By coincidence, the player may have failed.
