Canon mp390 manual

We suggest you first attempt the basic/universal Canon ink level reset procedures before attempting any of the more advanced procedures provided on our Inkjet411 site*

A. Standard Ink Level Reset Procedure (printers without LCD display):
[ Refer to the 1st support video: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=62 ]
1) At computer screen message, select 'Stop'/'Reset', 'OK', or 'Resume'.
....or....
2) Select 'Stop'/'Reset', 'OK' or the 'Resume' button (triangle-circle icon) on your printer for 5-8 seconds:
- Printing may continue under the 'ink out' condition.

B. Standard Ink Level Reset Procedure (printers with LCD display):
[ Refer to the 2nd support video: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=62 ]
1) Install cartridge and start print job.
2) After first message appears, click 'OK' to continue. Printer should start printing.
3) If second message appears and printer's LCD screen displays error code "E", then DO NOT click 'CANCEL PRINTING'.
4) Press and hold down 'Stop'/'Reset' button (triangle-circle icon) on your printer for 5-8 seconds. Printer should start printing.

If you are able to produce a self test print, this is good since it illustrates that the cartridges are electrically stable...if you observe any 'E' or 'V' error states (i.e. E13 or V162 for example), this may indicate there is possibly an internal electrical problem with one of the ink cartridges. Refer to your user guide if E/V error messages are displayed.

*If, after following the suggested ink monitoring/level reset procedures, you still have an error condition which prohibits regular printing, then the ink cartridge probably has internal electrical damage (micro-electronics failure); such a failure is unrelated to the ink cartridge refilling process. Typically, when the cartridge fails the problem is 'masked' by the ink out/empty condition so it can be difficult to distinguish between the two. Many cartridges eventually do encounter problems or failures, especially after their original ink is gone and they are re-used, and this is often unrelated to the refill process (i.e. typically ~2 years from original manufacturing date). Refer to picture at bottom of this page: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1533

To verify the Canon printer is functional, install a brand new cartridge in it - this will 100% confirm whether your refilled, compatible or remanufactured ink cartridge is faulty or not.

Fresh ink cartridges won't print at all.

First visit our Epson support page to ensure you covered : http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1939

Since the Epson PRINTHEAD is not removable, then it is suggested you take a damp cloth and repeatedly blot/saturate the respective color ink port with water (distilled water is recommended):

1. Remove suspect ink cartridge (or cartridges).
2. Place a paper towel under the PRINTHEAD assembly.
3. You'll see a round mesh ink port where ink flows into the PRINTHEAD.
4. Thoroughly dampen the ink port with 0.5 to 1 teaspoon of distilled water (use an eye-dropper or similar, pour or drip directly into ink port).
5. Reinstall ink cartridge(s).
6. Activate the 'Clean Printhead' routine once or twice to see if the respective color(s) have recovered.

Reset ink level on canon mg2120 after ink refill

The following procedures may be used to reset the Canon printer ink level monitoring following the installation of a refilled Canon 30, 31, 40, 41, 50, 51, 210, 211, 240, or 241 integrated ink cartridges. In most cases, the error/alert will need to be cleared to enable printing. Ink waste container reset procedures are also provided below.
NOTE: for multi-cartridge installation, the procedure(s) may need to be repeated twice.

For PGI-5, PGI-9PBK, CLI-8, PGI-220 CLI-221 PGI-225 CLI-226 PGI-250 CLI-251 Cartridges: These are new Canon cartridges which have an embedded chip on each cartridge. If you just refill the ink, the printer will still reads the cartridge as empty. You have two choices:

Purchase a "refillable cartridge" from www.asapinkjets.com
BCH or other sellers. These refillable cartridges have an auto-reset chip (non OEM) and will reset automatically.
Use a chip resetter (e.g., search Canon + model number + resetter on eBay). Follow the instruction below to refill your original cartridge, and use the resetter to reset the chip.

Change the ink but the ink light stays on

Have you followed the "Replacing an Expended Ink Cartridge" procedure as described in the Epson Stylus TX110 User Guide manual?

The procedure will identify the expended cartridge by stopping the print head against each such cartridge position, so repeat this process and confirm that you do not have a different expended cartridge to the black one that you replaced.

If the black cartridge is still being indicated as expended, then you should remove this cartridge, shake it four or five times, then re-install it ensuring that it seats down fully in case it wasn't seated correctly previously.

The other possibility is if there is any contamination on the green IC chip on the cartridge - try cleaning this with a dry clean cloth if so.

If you still have a problem, then it is possible that the new cartridge is at fault.

My Canon ip3600 has full ink, there is paper in the tray. It will print the page I want it to print. However, there isn't any ink / text on the pages that are being printed

It sounds like either the ink cartridges are clogged, or if you've installed new ones, it could be you forgot to remove the tape that covers the ink jet on them. If clogged, you can use alcohol on a Q-Tip to clean the jets.

I installed two new cartridges, black and magenta. The printer tells me to install new cartridges before I can continue. The ink guage shows the black and magenta ink is full.

If you have successfully installed ink cartridges before, tried powering down and back up again, posted for a solution on FixYa, then your printer must be factory-serviced.
If you are changing ink cartridges for the first time, find your manual and do the procedure step-by-step. The cartridge-moving mechanisms and sensors are delicate and must operate in a specific sequence.
Never turn off a printer while it is still making noise (unless there is smoke). Check that the protective tape has been removed from the cartridges before installation. Check that the cartridges are firmly seated by visually inspecting that they are lined up with the other cartridges.
