Sounds like the printer is bad, or you do not have the correct network drivers for that printer.

Xerox 5500DN Phaser PCL driver installed and printer and IP recogized with web printing Prints setup and help info from printer panel pefectly Paralell or IP printing from PC Host only dumps hex output...

The printer is printing in hexadecimal the binary data it is getting over the network as it does not recognize the print stream correctly. Likely reason is that the print stream originator which would be a PC trying to print to it is using the wrong driver. Could try connecting the printer directly to the PC in question and installing it as a local printer then trying to print to it directly. If the result is still a hex dump, then the drivers are incorrect. Usually the drivers not only have to be the ones for the printer but also must be tailored for the PCs operating system as well. If you can get the correct drivers for the PC and can get it to print correctly on the Xerox, then the Xerox can be reconnected to the network and re-installed as a network printer (delete the old network printer first) on the PC. During the installation of the network printer on the PC, do a final test print to check.

We have a spooling problem. The sharp mx-2300n just says "ripping" and 20% complete but won't move from there and print anything. Can cancel print job from Mac but won't stop anything at the printer end....

Go into the Job review mode and highlight the pending print job (note: it may be stuck in processing). You should then get the option to delete the job.

Make sure that the pending print job is also cleared from the network print queue. They can sit in the queue and be persistent on processing, even after you've cleared the copier. Clear the queue prior to deleting the job on the copier.

If this doesn't, disconnect the copier from your network and try the above steps again, then reboot the copier and reconnect it to your network.

If you're trying to print out Adobe-based web pages from the internet, this may be what's causing your copier to jam up. There's known coding anomalies with Adobe-embedded documents on web pages. Trying to directly print from the web page can stall or lock up the print process.

My printer will only print tabloid (11x17"), no matter what I do!

Could possibly be an issue with Vista on the PC's, the MAC's run different software so it wont effect them. Could try updating the Vista software, or there may be patches to fix from microsoft.

try to connect the printer to a computer independently from the network just to make sure if the problem lies with the network or printer.

InDesign Printing problem; service error 49.4c02

This is a solution which has been suggested on another site, this has not been tested by myself so no promises.

1. Turn the printer off.
2. Remove all memory DIMMs or third-party DIMMs from the printer. (Do not remove the firmware DIMM in slot J1.)
3. Remove all EIO devices from the printer.
4. Turn the printer on.
5. If the error no longer exists, install each DIMM and EIO device one at a time, making sure to turn the printer off and back on as you install each device.
6. Replace a DIMM or EIO device if you determine that it causes the error.
7. Remember to reconnect all cables that connect the printer to the network or computer.
8. If the error persists, replace the firmware DIMM.

Hope it helps, as I said, not tested personally.

HP2550N PRINT QUEUE WON'T PRINT UNLESS TURNED OFF THEN ON

This definitely sounds like a driver problem so you will need to delete the old driver and then install the most current driver and patches from HP Support.

Also Go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS on your PC and you will see two files listed fior each of the outstanding print jobs. These will have the file extensions .SHD and .SPL

You need to delete both of these files then power off and power on your printer to be able to continue printing.

"Off-line" error message

Go to control panel - printers. Right click your printer icon - select delete printer. Reinstall the software and drivers via CD supplied. May have to restart your computer when complete. Go back to control panel - select printers - select add a printer and follow the instructions. When finished print a test page.
