Question about Televison & Video
That is a very common problem, and regularly happens to almost all players after a while.
It is the lens, that keeping to take dust on it becomes dirty or damaged.
Try using a cotton stub and isopropyl alcohol to clean the lens.
If that does not work, then the lens must be replaced, and this is not an easy repair, as it is difficult to mount the lens pickup correctly in place.
Wharfdale players are inexpensive, and probably have more propensity to this common fault respect to more expensive brands models.
However I can tell you that the No Disk whirring problem is common even on Sony or Aiwa.
