VGA CONNECTION I am trying to connect my notebook to a television but I get "NO SIGNAL" message. How do I fix the problem? Is there anything I have to do to the VGA connection, or do I have to change something in my laptop. Thanks.

You are trying to run a VGA signal to your television? Usually you need a scan converter to do that so the signals will match. Does your laptop have S-Video out? That would be the ideal method.

Hi, I have a Lenovo Z470 laptop and I want to connect it to my Philips Smart TV (40PFL5507H/12), I thought it will be straight forward connection, but the TV is showing no video signal receive, please

HDMI is the best method as VGA is low density video. You may have to set up the laptop to send data output to the HDMI/VGA port (Out to the TV). Your manual should spell out the procedures to change from Computer Internal Video to Video OUT.

My gateway computer power light blinks and moniter says no signal.turn it off held then power button on for 30 seconds.then turned it back on.same as before.

Hello,
I don't think this has anything to do with the monitor since it is showing "no signal". this is an indication that the monitor is working.
Problem is from the connection between the computer and the monitor or from the computer itself.
Check the VGA cable and make sure it is firmly fixed into the computer and monitor.
Open the computer case, disconnect the keyboard, mouse, and every other thing apart from the VGA cord, then try again.
If there is still no signal, turn computer off again, remove it's power cord, then remove the system Ram, clean it and fix it back in. Then make sure the VGA card is well fixed into the mother board. After that, connect only he VGA cord and try again.
If non of the above seems to work, connect the computer to another monitor, and connect the monitor to another computer in other to confirm which is having a fault so that we can focus on it.
Keep me posted.
Good luck.

No signal detected message on monitor, cpu and monitor are on

Good Day Jboone563!

You need to check if the VGA cable is properly fix to the monitor and video card. Loosen connection or no contacts is the reason for the "no signal" display on your monitor.

This means that there is no signal coming out from the video card, going in to your monitor. If by fixing the VGA connection did not fix it, try removing the video card from the motherboard and then reseat it properly to the motherboard slot.

If this do not resolve the problem, Jboone563, I'm sorry but you will need to replace the video card.

Screen stays black

Get a vga cable and connect it to the side of the laptop, or where you can see the vga connection then send signal to either a monitor/ tv (if they have a vga connection).

by doing this you will be able to find out if its the screen that is faulty or the graphics card.

if you cant see anything else on external screen then its either the graphics card or the laptop motherboard.

if you can view pic, then its the screen, then you can decide if its worth replacing?

Out of rangemy dell pc to tv vga connection out of range no signal

Most of the televisions use NTSC standard to receive video signals wherein the screen resolution is VGA - which is 640 x 480 pixels. If your computer screen resolution is set to a setting which is more than this, the resulting video signal will not be within the scan range of the TV; hence this error.

The simple fix is to reduce your screen resolution back to 640 x 480. To do this, right-click on an empty area on your desktop, select 'Properties'. On the resulting 'Display properties' screen, click on 'Settings' tab & reduce the slider to the setting described above.

VGA connection from PC to TV --TV says "no signal"

On the remote control for your television, there should be a source or input button. Pressing the key repeatedly will switch from cable input to standard tv input, to s-video, or ypbr, or game, or various others. Try doing this and see if the image appears, this awlays works for me. If I am telling you something you have already tried, i am sorry!

Connect Laptop to TV

It depends on what kind of TV you have. If you have a flat-panel LCD or plasma TV, it may have a VGA connection already installed. If that is the case, all you need is a standard VGA cable to connect from your notebook to your TV.

If you have a TV without a VGA connection you will need a scan converter to convert your signal from VGA to RCA or composite video signal. These can be purchased online or from electronics stores like Radio Shack. You plug your VGA connection from the computer to the scan converter, then RCA or composite video cables from the converter to the TV.

Hope this helps. Please take a moment to rate this solution. Thanks.

Are you sure it's "F8" only? Usually most laptops use the FN+F5 to change video to external display.

Lost signal

well overall the tv isn't too reliable but perhaps you have the input on comp(vga) if you do that it says no signal and shuts off, try changing the channel by click either the channel up or down button, or just press the input button.
that would be the easy fix, or your tv is just broken like so many others, myself included
