Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, postback with the brand and model number of the TV. Additionally, describe the available buttons on the front / side panel control.

Offhand, if the MENU button is not included in the front panel controls, then a replacement remote control would be a necessity.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

Cannot figure out where to adjust the brightness, color, so on

You have to enter its menu option to adjust all this. Get into its 'Menu', surf and come to picture settings. Here you can adjust all the parameters. If your TV has no 'Menu' button at its front panel, you should have a remote control to get into 'menu' option. For more, refer the user manual to your TV.
If you don't have its remote control, and wish to buy its original remote control, you have to contact the authorized service center. If you wish to buy a universal remote control, you should know about, which brand remote control have setup code to your TV/device brand. You should first make sure about the number of digits in the codes to your device have. There are 3-digit, 4-digit, 5-digit and even 2-digit codes. You can get this detail by the code list attached to every universal remote control. The brand name of the remote control you select isn't a matter; but, its code list should have setup codes to your TV/device brand, otherwise you can't set it up with your device. Check this link and note which brand remote control have set-up codes to your device brand, and buy that brand remote control, according to availability.

No control and the picture is too dark

Not sure what you mean by no control?

Brightness settings on any TV made since the early to mid 90's (besides tiny cheap B&W TVs) will have the settings in an on-screen menu. Sometimes the menu is accessible through buttons on the TV itself, but always accessible through the remote control. If your TV does not have the ability to get to the settings menu from the TV controls itself, you will need the original (or compatible) remote control for the set, there is no other option.

It could also be that the set is just dying; it's an older set, and certainly would be a possibility.

Manual needed for Sanyo CP29ST3 - I need to tune in TV channels! I lost the manual!

Sanyo has two parts distributors in the U.S. Both are listed below. You'll need to contact the one closest to you and inquire about purchasing a replacement manual. In the meantime, if you're just trying to program the channels into your TV, you need to bring up the TV's menu and select the screen that has the channel or setup options. All TV menus follow the same general format: you should see icons or words going across the top of the screen or down the left side indicating the different menus that are available. On some older TVs you have to press the menu button more than once to cycle through the different menus. Each menu has different options such as picture options (brightness, color, tint, etc) audio options, setup options, and channel options. Use the arrow keys on the TV remote to manipulate what you see once the menu is on the screen. Once you find the channel options, you need to perform what's called a channel scan. On the screen it may say auto scan, auto program, or channel scan. Once you start the scan, you're done. The TV will scan for all available channels and the menu will disappear once it's finshed.

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here. Please be sure to vote on my response. I hope I've earned a good rating from you today.

Please post a comment if you need additional assistance so that I can help you further.

Old Sylvania model #6420FB lost remote how to switch to av mode

Unless the TV has a front-panel menu button and allows you to switch modes from there, you are out of luck. There are two possibilities. One is to try another replacement remote. If you get a universal remote made by the TV manufacturer (Magnavox), it may have buttons that will work. The other option is to purchase an RF converter, which will cost around $15. This will take the video/audio signals from the game and convert it to a channel 3 or 4 signal you can then tune in on the TV. The picture won't be quite as bright and clear as with direct AV input, but it will do the trick.
