Freezer is frosting

Even frost free freezers will frost up in high humidity, especially if there is a poor door seal. Defrost the freezer by turning it of and placing pans of hot tap water in the freezer. You can speed this along by helping to remove the ice as it melts. Check the door seal after you've defrosted the freezer, a bad seal is one of the big causes of frosting up the next biggest problem is usually holding the door open.
If it's a frost free unit, if the problem continues you'll need to have it checked out.

Defrost the freezer completely. Make sure the doors are sealed completely when shut. After defrosting plug back in and make sure the fan and the self defroster is functioning (your owner's manual should tell you how to reset the defrost timer). the problem may lay within the defrost system, and/or door seals and/or interior circulating fan.

Water leaking ( not much , but regular) from bottom of both sides. Freezer section now frosted up. does unit need a service? have had a look online and this seems to be common problem and no real...

the most common reason for frost buildup/condensation is doors not sealing properly(doors out of alignment).
use a spirit level to ensure unit is level, leaning back slightly but not touching wall, adjusters are on feet on the bottom of the unit, then look along the doors to make sure all seals are tight.lastly even though they say frost free it is worthwhile doing a total defrost annually(leave the doors open)and wipe out with bicarb and dry thoroughly.before switching back on.
clean out vents/drains at the same time.
then if it goes wrong you know its gonner cost......

Frost is building up at icemaker. Everything else seems ok

Does your refrigerator have a make and model number? Sometimes the frost is caused by a leak in the seal around door or the dispenser door remains open drawing air into freezer.

Frost is forming in freezer of side by side

There may be a switch on inside of refrigerator to regulate the sweat on outside of fridge. Also, door seal gets stretched to prevent good air seal.Open the door and insert a dollar bill. Shut the door, the door seal should be tight offer enough resistence that dollar bill does not freely pull out of door.If it doesn't,replace door seal.Hope this helps. Gregg

Why does my maytag fridge drip water around the freezer door?

Freezer door frames have a small heating element in them to stop that happening. Your element is failed.

Torn gasket seals just cause frost inside, but also cause the compressor extra stress if the seal is bad. This causes the compressor to keep running as yours does. They are cheap to buy and easy to fit.

With a 12 year old one, it is probably time for a new one. The new ones are more energy efficient and are cheaper to run.
