Re: Requires Head Alignment EVERY time switch power on

It sounds like the printer is not keeping its internal memory. It either has corrupt internal flash memory, or it has an internal bios chip with an attached battery and the battery is dead. In any case, every time you turn it off it forgets everything. When you turn it back on, it acts like you're turning it on for the first time.

I have tried to find some specific information on this model to see if we can replace the memory and or battery. However, I haven't been able to find the specific information for it, so I contacted Canon. I hope to hear back from them within a day, and I will let you know what I learn.

Of course, you could just leave the printer on all the time and it wouldn't lose its memory, but I assume that's a less than ideal solution.

I just purchased my HP 4500 printer and began to install it. I see an error (!) symbol and I believe German writing. I need to remove that symbol and change the language to English.

Selecting the display language
To change the display language on the printer control panel, do the
1 Press and hold [SELECT] on the printer control panel while pressing
the standby button (power switch). Continue holding [SELECT] until
the control panel displays
SELECT LANGUAGE (in English), and then release the [SELECT] key.
2 When the control panel displays LANGUAGE=ENGLISH *, press
[VALUE] repeatedly until your language choice appears.
3 Press [SELECT] to save your language choice. An asterisk appears
next to the selected language. Then press [GO].
4 After the printer warms up, the control panel displays READY in the
selected language.
If the control panel does not display the message in the language you
selected, press the printer standby button and repeat the instructions for
changing the display language.

Canon mp830 all in one, has all led in a foreign language. how do i get back to english

It is somewhat complicated if you cannot read the display as you go. I will be helpful to make sure you press the buttons in the solution below exactly as instructed. Hopefully, you can find your way back to English (or language of your choice):

1) With power on, Press <Menu>
2) Press [>] to select "Maintenance/Settings" - the icon has a pic of a wrench or tools of some sort
3) Press <OK>
4) Press [>] once to select "Device Settings"
5) Press <OK>
6) Press "Down arrow" 3 times to select "Language selection"
7) Press <OK>
8) Press "Down arrow" until English (or language of your choice) is highlighted
9) Press <OK>
10) Press <Stop/Reset> three times to return to main menu screen.

Your display should now be in English, or the language of your choice.

My MP830 leaves white horizontal bands when printing black & white documents. Color printing seems fine. Pattern 'F' is missing on the print alignment page.

You need to continually clean and deep clean and realign the black until the results are acceptable. Try manual alignment if the auto does not work. Also clean around the exit hole of the black ink cartidge with a cotton bud and isoproyl alcohol.

MP830 PGBK does not print, tried new cartridges and usual cleaning etc, nothing. Bought new print head but still does not print. Other colours Bk,Y,M,C all ok. Have tried 'Auto Alignment' but this fails...

the printhead probably needs to be taken out of printer and cleaned.

just pop the ink cartridges out, then remove the print-head, fill a sink full of warm water, and swirl the print head around in the warm water. Blow through the color slits on the print head into the sink full of water it will get messy. empty the sink full of colored warm water.
rinse and repeat till your are satisfied its clean. dry it off with a cloth towel you don't care for, because it will get messy and covered in ink.
put your printer back together and it should may take a few times...but i got my printer 'PGBK ink cartridge' working again doing this. or you can spend 100 bucks and buy a new printer is a mp830 it came apart easily no tools or force needed... good luck and don't break your printer...its easy.
