Question about Compaq Presario R3000 Notebook
Try a different brand of memory.
It is unlikely you can do anything with the memory you have to fix this problem.
The memory has the same specs as what another manufacturer recommends.
Be careful buying from auctions as they MAY be gradeouts. Always make sure you can return the product. Crucial has these for about $114 for your machine as an example.

You have to check the frequency of the rams like 400 mhz 333 mhz if both your old and new rams mach there mhz

Most (if not all) R3000 models are not designed to support memory in excess of 1280 MB. HP posts each model's specifications (including "memory max") on its website:

u can go for max512 mb..dont go 1 gb as this will hamper the speed of ur mobile..& if u switch to 512 mb..do try to keep all the stuff in memory card rather than sim memory..transfer mostly all the things from phone memory to mem card.This will sort the speed problem of ur mobile
