Question about Vivitar ViviCam 3915 Digital Camera

1 Answer

My dell 531s desk top doesn't seem to "see" my vivitar 3915 camera. it issues the tones when the camera is plugged into the usb port, just doesn't add it to the list of usb devices it sees. my work system(s), (3) that run windows xp have no problem seeing the camera as a usb mass storage device. i have plugged the camera into all available usb ports on the 531s and have the same results. the 531s doesn't have a problem with any "jump", "thumb" type usb drives that i may plug in. any ideas gang?

Look at the back panel. you will find the audio jack. Green marked jack should be the speaker jack.

Audio jacks are located just below the USB and Lan port on the back panel of the CPU box.

DEAR SIR,

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer can be done by two means....

1.INSTALL THE SOFTWARE C.D GIVEN ALONG WITH THE CAMERA IN YOUR NOTE BOOK....
THEN SWITCH ON YOUR CAMERA AND CONNECT THE CAMERA TO YOUR P.C VIA U.S.B CABLE,AND WAIT FOR FEW SECONDS FOR THE P.C TO DETECT YOUR CAMERA,ONCE THE CAMERA IS DETECTED IT WILL ASK YOU,WHETHER TO COPY YOUR CAMERA IMAGES TO YOUR P.C
AND JUST CLICKOK...YOUR FLES ARE BEING COPIED.......MAKE SURE YOU HAVE KEPT YOUR CAMERA ON WHILE CONNECTING TO NOTEBOOK...

2..Remove the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive.

thank you..take care

It doesn't matter to the camera what operating system you have on your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Windows Photo Gallery or Picasa.

Where do hook up wireless. I have dell desk top.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Almost always, wireless mouse makes use of the USB port to connect its base/receiver. Depending on the exact model of the Dell desktop, there would normally be USB ports at the rear of the computer. Some others have 2 USB ports at the front or side.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

Camera and cord not in sync

It sounds like the camera's USB port may be damaged. Have a close look at the port and the cable, too. If it looks like the cable is bent in some way, then you could replace it. If it's the USB port on the camera then it would cost more than the camera to have it repaired. Best recommendation: Purchase a USB card reader from your local electronics store - Best Buy or whoever. Plug this device into your computer and then insert the camera's SD Card. The card reader acts just like a regualr drive on our computer. With this method there is less chance of damage to the hardware. Good luck.
