Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have lost my instruction manual for my Antec SX1040BII computer case. I'm having some problems with connecting the case wires to my Gigabyte GA7NNXP motherboard. I keep getting a warning beep (but a constant tone). Also, I believe the text on the connecting plugs for the case wires is meant to face either the top or the bottom of the case, but I can't remember which. Finally, I have a total of 1.5GB of RAM, but however I install the RAM, when booting up. the computer is only detecting 0.5 GB if I install all 3 RAM chips, but it will detect 1GB if I only install 2 chips. Please help me resolve these issues. Regards Robert I Mitchell

    What do you mean by "surking"?

    Also, before I sought advice from Fixya, I went to Antec's website and they didn't have my enclosure's instructions to download.

    The memory chips worked fine before our house fuse for the circuit to which my PC was conencted tripped last Thursday.

    When I tried booting up afterwards the monitor wouldn't come on, so I took everything off the motherboard except the processor and then re-connected everything.

    Afterwards, I got the constant "beep" and only 0.5GB of my 1.5GB of RAM was showing upon boot-up.

Mem chips not compatible, or not locating properly in slots.
Mem check go too www.offtek.co.uk Follow instruction, they will do a mem check, give you a readout and recommend compatible chips for your poota..
Instruction manual, go to google, type in poota specs, go surking to company, to downloads, should find downloadable manual.

Good luck.

I want to know that how can I assemble my wires in GIGABYTE GA-8I945GZME-RH

Assemble wire, you must mean install the power supply cords.

1. Find the long cord called "24 Pin", the motherboards usually have that plug on the right hand side, above the SATA connectors
2. Most motherboards need a 4 or 8 pin plug in order to power the CPU, most modern power supplys have adequate connectors, should be somewhere on the rails.
3. Your case has specific wires needed to be plugged in, usually on the bottom. Follow your case instructions for this.

Two wires need a home

If everything is working, those wires may be extra for expansion needs. There are several wires not connected to anything inside a PC

Installed new motherboard (Gigabyte GA-G41M-ES2L), I cannot figure out where to plug the blue & white wire coming from the main power button on the front of the computer on the motherboard. Please...

hello tami_hennacy

unfortunately the wiring color for computer cases are not standard. so blue and white does not mean much. you need to look at the connection on the tip of the wire to see if it is labeled so you can locate the corresponding connection point on the mother board. Gigabyte motherboards have a very good step by step discretion of all connections.

if it is not labeled then you need to oped the case front panel and see what the other end of this pair of wires is connected to.

hopefully this has helped
good luck

I want all the pin details of motherboard diagram for GA- 8i845GV

Download the manual from Gigabyte;
http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Manual/motherboard_manual_8i845gv_e.pdf
In order to view the manual you'll also need to download and install Adobe reader; http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/
With Adobe you can zoom in on any page. The manual is put together in such a way that you'll be able to connect everything. Most people have trouble connecting the, chassis front panel. Since wire colors vary from case to case you'll find each two pin jumper will share a specific wire color. Normally this common wire color is white and is used as negative.
(Except for the MB speaker). Common wire color for the speaker is, "red for positive and black for negative".
Take you're time and follow the manual.

Good luck!
Mike

Gateway PC into Antec enclosure?

Hi:
You should be able to transfer your motherboard to the new case, but some things to check before you do:
How do the power switches and front audio/USB connections work for the old gateway? Are they standard or vendor specific? Are the optical drives in the gateway standard, or do they have special fronts on them? I have done what you are wanting to do several times, and often you need to replace OEM optical drives, and sometimes the motherboard headers don't match up with a builder case, so you do the best you can.

I need help installing a cd drive in an Antec Sonata III 500 computer case. How do I do it?

Unplug the power from the computer. Open the case cover. Carefully remove the placeholder on the front of the case where you wish to install the CD drive. Make sure you have the proper ribbon cable for the type of drive you are installing and that you know where to plug it into the motherboard (consult your motherboard manual).

Use the screws provided to secure the drive to the chassis rails (make face of drive flush with front of case). Attach an available power supply connector to the new CD drive. Close the cover.

I need the front panel pin layout for a Gigabyte 8S648FX-RZ motherboard. (that is the power switch, reset switch, LED etc.)

Open the link for your Gigabyte MB 8S648FX-l;
http://america.giga-byte.com/FileList/Manual/motherboard_manual_8s648fx_rz(c)_c.pdf
This is your manual. Go to page 15. You can enlarge the image if needed.
You will need Adobe Reader to view the manual. If you need Adobe it is a free download;
http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/
To view the main link for the Gigabyte 8S648FX-RZ click below;
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=1775
Case front panel wire colors can be confusing. Most cases use colored wires as their +positive. White is commonly used as the -ground wire. Except when connecting an internal speaker. Black colored wire is ground.

Cheers!

Gigabyte GA-8INXP Motherboard Problem- front connector pins

If the wires from the reset switch is white/blue the blue wire is positive, Hdd red/white red is positive power Green/white Green is positive etc. The wires on the speaker connector will be red/black/black/white - red is positive. The colored wire is always positive. On all GA mb's the positive connection is always towards the back of the MB and are marked with a + on the base of the pin as you can see on the photo. Hope this help.
