Question about Kenmore Washing Machines

1 Answer

Kenmore Washer 417.44052400 (Front Loader). Won?t spins during any cycle. It fills, drains, fills again and drains again ?a complete cycle. I do hear the motor running during. Yet no spin at all. Thus leaves the clothes wet.

Hey Guru, Thank you for your advise.

Now I do need more info from you. After visual inspection of the back, I noticed that not only a belt was down (partly broken) but the vibrations shocks were broken too - some major failure.

Questions: What else should I look for in terms of replacing parts? Should I consider purchasing a new one after this kind of damage. Note that this unit is about 4 years old and the new one will cost me about $500-$550.

Thank you. I look forward to hearing from you. Ramesh

HI. Ok, just to make sure this is not a simple control fault, I would advise to unplug the unit for five minutes. This will force a core reset. Both control modules will be forced to reset. Once the five minutes have passed, simply plug in the unit, and try to initiate a wash cycle once again. If the same errors continue to present a problem, and the spin cycle is not operating correctly, this will rule out a this particular fault. Move on to the belt inspection.

To inspect the belt, simply remove the rear panel. Twelve screws secure the back panel to the washer. Remove the 12 screws and remove the back panel. Once the belt and pulley are exposed, check the tension of the belt physically. If there is excessive play, this will be the reason for the no spin. the belt is stretched. If the belt is tight, and the structure of the belt is sound, The belt is not the issue.

Now. If all is well with the belt, this will lead to a failed Motor Control Board. This module controls the spin functions during the selected cycle. This will be the culprit. once this damaged device is replaced, the unit will spin properly.

OK, I would consider repairing your unit at this time. these repairs will not exceed the cost of a new unit. Purchasing a new unit would be more expensive than actually repairing your existing unit. The total parts cost for these damaged parts will be $46.15, plus the sales tax. This will include the Shock absorber kit, and belt, as well. All instructions will be shipped along with both parts to help assist with the installation.

My recommendation is to repair this unit. It is still very young, and the control boards are still operating properly. There is no need to purchase a new unit at this time, in my opinion. The actual service call for these repair are considered to be minor, and will not exceed the price of a new unit, also. The service call will cost just over $295.00. This is way below the asking price for a newer unit. If you are considering a Do It Yourself, I will post the necessary links below to direct you to the replacement parts needed. Remember, if you order from the site i will direct you to , All installation diagrams, and full scale instructions, will be shipped along with both parts. Simply click on the links below to be directed to the purchase pages.

Washer won't drain or spin

top loader ??? or front loader??? if top loader you have broken your lid switch, will fill, agitate, but when it comes to drain/spin for safety reasons if the unit doent recognize the lid closed it will not advance...if yo have a front loader then i would suspect that something has gotten into the pump assy and preventing drainiing of water therefore will not spin

Washer will not Spin during SPIN CYCLES

Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. (consult your manual to know where/how filter is cleaned). There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too.

Rate me pl.....if helped.
