I own a Panasonic PT-47WX49E. I have a blue screen with horizontal lines appearing. How do I fix this issue? Is it a convergence problem?
I think that the cost of repair is more than a new flat screen tv ,sounds like the scan coil output has burnt out ,well it was called scan output in a valve tv of old .This fault would be caused by a picture valve or the high tension output for the scan coil.Ok iam showing my age yes?? but the problem is the same just the technical names have changed.
As i stated i dont know how this type of thing operates compared with an old valve set,iam just a dinasaur because the technology has by-passed me and i havent kept up.but yes that circuit is driving the output for the picture so we can assume that the tech guy knows as well .Now the whats the cost of the part and the labour involved in changing it,is it viable to repair when the lcd tv have dropped in price and they digital terrestal tv tuners built in .They can run off of a computer so you download a torrent film and not have to bother burning to a dvd or memory stick .Just plug computer in and watch the film ,here in spain a 32inch is now about 300euros so before you repair think about it closely

When I was researching this issue online I was led to believe this problem was due to the convergence. After talking to a tech with a parts company he said it may be the drive board at the base of the circuit on the bulb (or tube).
