Can this router be used as an access point or range extender?

Yes it can you will have to get the ip address for it then go into setup and set to access point.

see generic setups

To open the set up page of the router of the router , one of your computer should be able to go online through the router.
It could be a wired computer or wireless computer.
If it is a wireless computer then make sure that the computer is connected to your own wireless network.
Do not change any wireless settings on the router using a wireless computer.
OK ! Now you have a computer online through the router and you want to open the set up page of the router.

First step is check the IP address of the computer.
Check the IP address and the Default gateway on the computer.

For Windows XP

START ==> RUN ==> type in cmd in the RUN box==> click OK or Hit ENTER . You will see a black window that is a command prompt . In the black window type in " ipconfig " ==> and Hit ENTER on your key board .

For Windows Vista and Windows 7

click on START ==> type in cmd in the start search box ==> enter ==> you will see the black window. Type in " ipconfig "you will see a lot of information. Try to find out the local area connection IPv4 address .

Note down the Default gateway number.

For MAC OS

Click APPLE icon in the right top corner of the computer. Go to System Preferences ==> go to Network ==> you will find the option Built in Ethernet or Airport whichever is connected. If you go to that you will find the Ip address and router Address.

The default gateway is the IP address of your router.

This IP address of the router will be used to open the set up page of the router

Now you got the IP address of the router.Open the Internet Browser ( Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari )

In the Address bar of the browser Type the IP address of the router.

Do not type http:// or www just type in the IP address only.

It will ask you for the user name and the password of the router.

This is the User name and the password of the router and NOT the wireless password. On a wireless router, there are 2 passwords. One is to access the router and the other one is for the wireless network.

For most of the routers the default password will be " admin " . for some routers the default password is " password ". For Linksys router the default password is admin and no user name.

How to open asus wifi router home page?

Hi,

In order to access the web interface of the router you should know the IP address of the router. Please try the following steps to check the ip address on the computer which is connected with the router (wired/wireless doesn’t matter).

1. Click on start the go to run and try cmd and click on ok.
2. Type ipconfig and press enter.
3. look for the default gateway numbers.

the default gateway is the address of the router. Open internet explorer and type http://default gateway numbers (for example http://192.168.1.1)

It should take you to the web interface of the router on which authentication is needed. The default user name and password is admin and admin.

Let me know if it help.

Hi Thanks for your question
Default routers IP would be 192.168.1.1 although this may vary! To be sure you choose the right one you need to do this. Press
Start--->Run--->
In run box put "cmd" (without the quotation marks) This should open you a command prompt Put "ipconfig" and press enter. You will be showed your current ip configuration. The address that your after is the "default gateway" this will be your router IP. How do I put a password on my d-link 300 Dir Router

You need to access your router's web configuration interface. To do this, you need to connect a computer directly to your router and visit http://192.168.0.1 using any web browser.

When prompted for a credentials:
user name = admin
password = <blank> leave blank

When you successfully access the interface, you can set an admin password so that not everyone can access the administration page.

I have problem setting up my wireless network and redirecting my wireless client to my local webpages before they can access to internet.   see this diagram below :...

you need to replace your modem with a router that is capable of running Network Address Translation. You are trying to route private IP's (192,168.x.x) over the public IP (internet) network.
