Question about Microsoft Windows XP Professional

What's the best procedure 4 downloading-saving-scaning software?

I have 3 questions

1.downloading files
2.scanning them first
3.emailing folders of things

I am trying to download a photo fun tool from the home website of a trusted software manufacturer/distributor and I am not sure what the proper proceedure should be when the program is a binary file. So when it prompts me to save this binary file called FSS-RMP-0208-setup.exe do i navigate my way in ''my computer'' till i get to ''program files'' and save there OR should I put the little application in the Downloads folder...I hate to wing it when I am not sure & no how to's at time of need. As we speak I am hanging midstream pending a reply. What is the best practice for downloading and should I ever need to scan for viruses before I get past the point of rescue ''HOW DO YOU DO THAT''
LAST.
Is it possible to email a folder full of photos or documents or must i do each one separately?

Thank you

When downloading trusted exe files, always save to a location such as the download folder. After downloading, you will need to go that location and scan the file (right-click, scan file) , then execute the file (double-click).

Documents and photos need to be attached one by one, but you can send many in a single email.

If you need something easier to send/recieve, check out this cool program

How do set up my lexmark pro901 to scan to my pc so that I can email the scans

Make sure the Lexmark Pinnacle Pro901 printer driver is installed on your computer. If you have the install disc that came with your printer, just insert it to your computer hard driver and follow the instructions on your computer screen. You can also the download the printer driver from the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/d3ftso. Select your operating system > download > execute the file. Again, just follow the instructions on your computer screen.
Note: The install disc contains the Lexmark OCR scan software necessary for scanning documents for editing and saving them as PDF files. The downloaded driver does not contain the OCR software.
To scan to your computer using the printer operator panel:

1. From the home screen, navigate to Scan to Computer: Scan > Scan to Computer

2. Touch USB-Connected Computer or the name of a network computer. The local or network computer is the destination that will receive the scan. Wait until the printer has finished downloading a list of the scan applications available on the selected computer.

3. Select an application (in your case your email), and then touch Accept.

4. Select the color, resolution quality and the original image size. If necessary, touch Accept each time you make a selection.

5. Press the start button to start scanning. The scan is complete when the application you selected in step 4 opens on the destination computer, and the scan appears within the application as a new file.

To scan to your computer using the printer software (Lexmark Printer Home):

For Windows:

1. Click Start.

2. Click All Programs or Programs, and then select the printer program folder from the list.

3. Select Printer Home.

4. Choose your printer from the printer drop-down list.

5. Click Email, and then select Photo, Document or PDF.

Note: You can select Document only if an OCR application is stored on your computer. Scanning starts and the scan progress dialog appears.

6. When the scan is finished, a new e-mail message is created with the scanned document automatically attached.

7. Compose your e-mail message. Note: If your e-mail program does not open automatically, then you can scan the document to the computer and then send it through e-mail as an attachment.

For Mac:

1. From the Finder desktop, double-click the printer program folder.

2. Double-click the printer Center to open the All-In-One Center.

3. From the "What is being scanned?" menu on the main screen, select a document type.

4. From the "How will the scanned image be used?" menu, choose To be viewed on monitor/web page.

5. From the "Send scanned image to" menu, choose an application.

6. Click Scan.

7. Retrieve the scanned image from the application, and then send it through e-mail as an attachment.

I hope this information has been helpful.

Hi

1. Double Click on HP director to start it up. Look for "HP Director" on your desktop (the screen in front of you). It is usually an icon that materializes after you install your printer. (It may look slightly different with different models.

2. Scan the document by clicking "Scan."

3. Select "Save to File." (You can set up a folder ahead of time so you know where to find the document or photos once they are scanned). Often times the computermag-glass_10x10.gif will create a default "scanned documents" folder and organize them by saving them on the date scanned.

4.Click scan and then wait for box to appear.

5.
The software will prompt you to save the file. Put it in the folder you created (you can see the path/folder). Give it a name you will remember.

6.
Then click "Save"to finalize it. The document should be in the folder that you designated.

Hope this helps

How do i send a scanned item to email

If your scanner software does not have a direct function to do this, you might want a) to get a new scanner (they are cheap nowdays) with a software pack that offers an integration with your favorite email software; b) or you might need to add a few helper-apps to assist you with this task. I use b), and I use Picasa. Here how it works.

1) Install Picasa first (if not installed yet)
2) When saving your scanned images note the default folder where the scanner saves these images.
3) Make sure that Picasa monitors the folder where images (2) are saved.
4) While scanning you can have the Picasa running, then you'll see real-time how your images pops-up in Picasa
5) Scan an image and save it with a default name in the default folder
6) Just scanned image will appear in the Picasa automatically- select this image or images and email them with your favorite email client, you van use gmail right from Picasa, or have your Outlook be integrated with Picasa - your choice.

If you have a gmail account you can publish your images to your gmail personal web photo album and send a link to your friends instead of an image.

Now you can email scanned images and your images are orginized.

I have downloaded the software for the canon pixma780 to my mac. How do I open it? I cannot find it. I am wanting to scan a picture. Thanks.

Procedures for the download and installation

The software are compressed so you will need to follow the instructions below to install them.

( 1. Click the link, select [ Save ], specify "" Save As "", then click [ Save ] to download the file. )

2. The downloaded file will be saved in the specified place in the self-extracting form ( .exe format ).

3. Double-click the downloaded EXE file to decompress it.
Look in your "downloaded program files" or "my downloads" folders and also in the "zipped" folder to see if the file is there.

If you cannot find it but can remember what it was called put a search in for the file on your computer.

If you cannot remember what the file is called (or part of it) then I suggest you download it again and save it to your desktop so that you can find it easily.
