Remove the horn pad by unscrewing the screws behind it.
Remove the nut that secures the steering wheel to the shaft using a wrench.
Use a steering wheel puller to remove the steering wheel from the shaft. Connect the puller to the steering wheel and tighten the puller's bolt to remove the steering wheel.
https://www.amazon.com/Supco-FBP100-Blade-Blower-Puller/dp/B008HOSLES. This is the type of puller used on a blower cage removal. Not a 3 armed gear/pulley removal tool. Most HVAC supply houses, though wholesalers only, should sell you a tool but not parts. Especially with cash in hand. A contractor can expect to pay $30-50. You mentioned retain bolts from both ends of shaft so I'm not sure what you're working on but I hope this helps. The shaft is probably seized to the bearing/hub. May be necessary to replace the shaft, bearings, ext/all new. Most bearing supply houses carry shafts at 3' length.
Hello, in order to replace the condenser fan you will need to remove the motor aseembly and use a hub puller to remove the fan blade. When removing the fan blade spraynsome wd- 40 on the motor shaft and then attach the hub puller to remove the fan blade. You csn buy the fan blade at any heating and cooling store.
Steering wheel pullers can be rented. If it's a tilt wheel, then different pullers have to be rented. Before you take the wheel off, mark the wheel hub where it mounts on the shaft so there won't be any misalignment when you put the wheel back on. Wheel pullers are universal in size.
The best thing to do for this info is get a service manual from you local library.
You need to first remove the blower housing/starter cover to expose the flywheel. Next you need to remove the coil, Next remove the flywheel nut using an impact wrench (or find something and someone to hold it while you remove the nut), Their is a puller for this job, you use two 5/16 bolts with a puller and an impact wrench again. Tighten the puller, then........take a hammer and smack it on the END of the puller while it is still tight. The flywheel will POP off the tapered shaft. dont loose the flywheel key, or just plan on replacing it.
To reinstall it DO NOT grease the tapered shaft ( to make it come off easier next time),Just place the flywheel on and resecure.
ITS CALLED SURGERY take picture as ya go and have a big bucket for screws. make sure you have your motor and capacitor tested first before you replace it unless you know its bad (hp,sf &rpm must match !!!! on new motor ) little guys are real expensive and are a three speed motor and must be hooked up right or you will burn it UP !
do this in the shade cuz it aint no fun in the hot sun(me Florida) the first thing i would do is oil the motor then have the capacitor checked , the motor may not need to be replaced just serviced ?.. hay now if'n i was any help write a review of thanks or just VOTE,, MOTORWIZJ ..FL
you may need a puller like a pulley puller or something like that if you look at the shaft it should have a convex spot in the middle for the puller to rest on
You can rent and use a wheel puller providing that your blower is strong enough not to bend, crack or break under the stress. OR...have a friend help by them or you holding the whole unit up by the blower fan itself and then your friend or you can hit on the blower shaft with a "dead blow" (heavy rubber hammer) type hammer so as to not damage the end of the shaft. If you do not have this type of hammer use a sturdy block of wood against the shaft and hit on the wood with a regular hammer. Blower fan should then pop off. For renting a wheel puller...look in the yellow pages of your phone book under Eguipment Rental or Rental stores.
Before attempting to remove blower, run the motor and note the direction of rotation. The blower wheel can be very difficult to remove. It is screwed on to the motor shaft opposite to the motor rotation such that every time the motor starts, the blower wheel gets tighter. The best way to remove, is to put an adjustable wrench on the blower wheel (from the motor side) and using another wrench or locking pliers on the side of the motor shaft where the belt goes. Rotate the motor shaft where the belt goes, in the opposite direction of normal rotation while holding the wrench on the blower wheel. It will be VERY TIGHT. If unsuccessful, the only alternative is to strike the blower wheel REALLY hard and break it off. GOOD LUCK!
